So many uses, 550lbs rating provides confidence.
Great product and the colour mix is great, arrived on a very useful 50 metres reel.Easy to cut to length simply seal ends with a lighter to avoid line fraying.In use It has proven durable for wear and tension. Used under strain with a 'truckers hitch knot' or used with a climbing sling and rated carabiners as a temporary pulley system. However remember to wear gloves when used with weight as it is thin and will burn if it starts to run. Not suitable for climbing.I am a fan of paracord and bit of a knot nerd. I always carry at least 15m in car, on motorcycle or in rucsack when out camping or in mountains. So many uses, has come to the rescue so many times.Only buy 7 core 550lb paracord and avoid cheaper imitations. You can then have confidence in its use up to 550lbs.Learning a handful of knots and especially quick release knot techniques and you will not end up damaging the cord or cutting off knots.

Why is paracord so popular really?
I mean, yeah, as paracord goes, this is fine and dandy, but I just don't get the fascination with this material. I haven't had this particular item outdoors for long yet, but other similar paracord has degraded outdoors with the weather (presumably UV, mainly) and is soon in tatters. Even if this stuff is better than my old stuff, paracord seems to be less effective, strong and long lasting than other cordage of similar girth, particularly due to the two different layers. The outer sheath can be damaged, then exposing the unwoven separate strands inside. This also perpetually causes issues with the ends, even when melted together, since the inner can move along inside the outer tube. I've got some plaited cordage which I think is nylon and it's been outdoors in the same conditions as my old paracord and it's fine - the paracord is long gone. But if paracord is what you want, this seems to be as good as any! And I've not priced up the alternatives. :)
