I bought this pointer as a temporary alternative to my lost Klein pointer, but I can assure you that it works much better than Klein; its advantage is that you can adjust the sensitivity. And this is very important when you want to find a live wire among other wires or detect a working wire behind a wall. trouble-free and has never let me down, I recommend you buy it, you won’t regret it

Works well.

Works in both Auto & Manual mode. Blinks and beeps. Probably most accurate detecting 120 VAC voltage presence in a plug / outlet or on the insulation of a wire. It also does distinguish between 'hot' and neutral. Questionable part is in manual mode when turning to higher sensitivity. (like when trying to see if there's a 'live' wire behind sheet rock). It can kind of do that but location accuracy is not precise. Also tried to find break in string of Christmas tree lights to determine which bulb was burned out. Didn't have much success with that to find. In conclusion: it's a quick Go-No Go tester but shouldn't be relied on for safety or to determine absolute presence of AC voltage. Does NOT detect DC voltages in either Auto or Manual modes. ALWAYS check for presence of any voltage with a direct contact meter before touching or working on electrical circuits. PS. also helps to know what your doing. (smiles)

Does a good job of voltage / current presence and is accurate when precision meter readings needed.

The accuracy is sketchy but it does alert you to voltage without contact.This is the LCD version of this model which is also, for some horrid reason, only rated at Cat. II (600VAC) and not Cat. IV (1000VAC) like the non-LCD versionsEdit: to say I just had the “upgraded chip” model delivered and right off the bat, it doesn’t come with a handy carrying case or even batteries. It also doesn’t have probe connections like the LCD version has. But it is Cat. IV rated so there’s that. Even with this so-called chip upgrade, accuracy is sketchy but it still alerts to voltage.

I purchased this to replace my hot stick for what seems like the tenth time. I’ve had this for a few months now and I have to say that this thing will not disappoint. When I purchased it I didn’t realize it was a hot stick and voltage tester in one. Plus you can ring out continuity with it and everything. I was pretty shocked at how decent this product was. I mean I don’t buy anything with the expectation of it malfunctioning right away or not working as it’s intended, but at the same time for the price I paid for this and the features it offers I was very impressed.

I purchased this item and upon arrival, I was excited until I installed the battery and turned the device on. All the lights and flashlight because blinking rapidly. I removed the battery and tried a new one. The same thing happened. It did not work. I notified Amazon and informed them that I have a defective item and I want to return it for a replacement. Several days later, I received a new one. I also must stress that the delivery person never knocked on my door. Left it at the bottom of the door. All he/she had to do was, knock on the door so that I know that my item was being delievered. Living in a building with 188 families, with 8 neighbors on my floor could easily make my package disappear. Anyway, I digressed but getting back to the item, I received the replacement and immediately installed a battery. To my surprise, the same thing happened. All the lights began flashing including the flashlight. Anything I did, would not make it work. I cannot believe that Amazon would send me 2 of the same item that are both defective. I will be sending it back and requesting a refund. Amazon should check these types of items to ensure that they work.
