Lucien Piccard Navona GMT Chronograph Men's Watch 11187-RG-04-BRW

I read a previous review from a purchaser where they refer to this watch as a "heavy self-winding watch..". I received my watch today and it has a quartz movement as is shown in the description of the watch. I also don't consider the watch to be heavy, but that is my opinion. I am a watch collector and do own heavier watches that this watch. I also own mechanical, mechanical automatic (self wind) and quartz watches. Quartz watches will be more accurate and you can not wear the watch for periods of time and it will keep running due to the fact that it runs on a battery. The watch is great looking and looks more expensive than the price I paid. I would recommend this watch. The band is leather and typical of the quality you would get on a watch at this price point. I intend to keep it on the watch but you could also swap it out for another band.Lucien Piccard has an interesting history. Early in their evolution, they were well made "Swiss Made" watches. They then went through a period of time when they were not very good or good looking and assembled off shore. They brand was recently purchased by a watch company in Florida and they completely redesigned the entire watch line and improved the quality. I now own 3 Lucien Piccard men's watches and love them all.

Purchased as a birthday gift for my husband. He loves it. Clasp was a little tricky but he figured it out and doesn't mind it.

This is a great value for a large dial men’s watch that has an elegant appearance. I’m giving a 5 star rating assuming you know ahead of time that you’re purchasing a heavy watch. These days cell phones, especially smart phones, have begun to reduce the need for a conventional wrist watch. However, it’s still a lot more convenient to glance down at your wrist to see what time it is without grabbing your phone, pressing a button to take it out of sleep mode and display the time and then press the button again to put the display back to into sleep mode to preserve the battery and put it back into your pocket – most especially when driving.My experience with most battery operated watches is that when the battery dies, I’ve had to throw the watch in the trash more often than not because they make it nearly impossible to remove the back plate to access the battery. I could not find any information of how to replace the battery.This has two auxiliary dials – one for a stopwatch and one showing 24 hour time for traveling, especially in international airports where most every display is 24 hour time. The stopwatch dial goes to 60 minutes while the second hand shows the time down to the second. The second hand appears to only move for the stopwatch function. I would have preferred the second hand to always be in motion. There is a pushbutton in the upper left that starts the stopwatch. You can press it to stop the time or to resume the time. The lowermost button is used to reset the second hand to the twelve o’clock position. There’s a distinct action to it so you know when you’ve engaged the pushbutton.The middle one sets the time and day of month. The day of month is displayed just above the six o’clock position. It’s not very big, so you’ll need good eyesight. This watch has an appealing retro look to it, but still quite contemporary styling. The one thing I definitely don’t like is the wrist band. I wish they had made it a conventional belt style band, but they didn’t. It took me quite a while to even learn how to adjust the band to wear it. It’s designed to slip over your hand and once on your wrist, you use the clasp fitting to snap it shut. In my case, I made the band as short as possible while still being able to slip it over my hand. Then when I snap it shut, it is relatively loose on my wrist. It’s kind of difficult for me to get used to it being loose. It’s not bad, but just a personal preference that I prefer a snug fit. It would have been cheaper to use the ordinary method and it would have even looked better in my opinion. It appears that some designer was just trying to be unconventional at the expense of it being functional and easy to adjust. Maybe this is a personal preference on my part. Others might prefer this design.

This is a very nice looking men’s watch and keep excellent time. The face of the watch is quite large but since I am fond of large face watches this suits my tastes perfectly. Yes, I know I am a female but I am one of those females who wear men’s watches...hey, to each her own....The directions that come with this watch are some of the best I have read. But alas, the directions far only for the watch and not the accursed watch band. I will be honest with you, I worked on this band for over two hours twice...one two separate days, and never did figure out how the thing worked. In my case I simply took it to my local jewelry store and had them replace the band that came with the watch with a nice leather band that I happened to have on an old watch I had here in the house which fit this new watch...and my wrist...perfectly. Solved that problem.I am not sure why they placed a band; a sort of hybrid really, on a nice watch like this. A simple and traditional band of leather with no whistles and bells would have been so much nicer.Anyway, the watch itself appears to be well made. It has a large face and date. It keeps excellent time and is attractive. I am giving this watch four stars. If I could I would give the band one star and the watch five stars.
