Modiano is THE number one company that makes playing cards in Italy and these are the classic playing cards from Sicily, introduced by the Moors when they occupied Sicily in the 11th century.There are 40 cards in a pack rather than the 52 in standard playing cards, and they are made of stiffer card. Some people also comment that they are smaller than the standard card size in some other countries.The suits are coins, cups (depicted like trophy cups), clubs (like caveman clubs) and swords. There are seven number cards and three figures, the King or Sultan (two of the suits have turbans instead of crowns), the Cavalier and the Foot soldier. These were used for fighting games so they are all fighting figures, but in modern Sicilian the Foot soldier (who should be called Fante) is often called the signorina or young lady instead.The ace of coins shows an eagle with a silver coin (in white) instead of gold like the others (printed in yellow) - the eagle is the traditional symbol of Palermo.You can buy a book on Amazon which explains instructions for sicilian card games, called Sicilian Card Games - an Easy to Follow Guide.

Ich finde, Modiano-Karten gehören einfach zu einem italienischen Haushalt dazu.Ich hab sie bestellt, weil ich sie gerne gespielt habe und sie immer noch spiele.Egal, ob Solitario, Scopa, Scopone oder Briscola. Nur allerdings habe ich die Kartenein wenig größer in Erinnerung gehabt. Oder liegt das daran, weil ich kleiner war!? :DKurzum... bestellt, binnen weniger Tage geliefert, Verpackung war in Ordnung und dieKarten sind in einem einwandfreien Zustand und haben eine gute Qualität.Was will man mehr? Grazie mille per tutto!
