Very good nest box. The steel is sturdy . Assembly is easy enough and the directions are quite clear. The unit is very solid after being put together, mine had no slop or movement at all when moving it to it's final destination. Time will tell but if kept in a barn or otherwise out of the weather I would expect it to long outlive me. The bottoms on the end of one side didn't fit perfectly but with a little coaxing went into place well enough. Overall very happy with this and would not hesitate to purchase another from this company.

I shopped a lot of nesting boxes before ordering this one. I'm new to chickens and after watching a number of veteran chicken pros, I knew there were a few features I wanted in my nesting boxes and this set met those requirements. I wanted deep boxes with good ventilation that weren't roll out boxes. This set of nesting boxes went together fairly easily and is super sturdy once completely assembled. I recommend assembling this on a large table so you're not working on the floor and can easily spin it around as assembly progresses. Keep a close eye on the fasteners as they don't send any extras. My only complaint with this set of nesting boxes is; there a number of sharp edges and corners that I think are going to cause some problems down the road. I wish the manufacturer would roll all edges of the sheet metal and grind down all sharp corners of the hardware for the perches. Overall I'm happy with my purchase, and if I order additional nesting boxes in the future, I'll probably order from the same company.

We were looking for a way to not have to build and install nest boxes. We considered pre-made wooden nest boxes, plastic units, and multiple configurations of galvanized metal units including this one for 28 large fowl layers. As soon as we installed this in our coop, hanging mid to low on the rear wall of our coop, our hens were in. 10 slots has seemed more than enough (though we dropped from 28 to 17 after our fall cull). We have large breeds that don't seem to have any issue getting in and out and they seem content with the amount of privacy. It's difficult for a second hen to fit in a box with a nesting hen and force her out, so we mostly don't get much of this problem. Collecting eggs is easy from the front but also appears possible from the rear with hatch doors. We're thinking of trying this in the spring. The unit was easy to assemble, with decent written instructions. Take care to avoid a few metal edges that are a little sharp. It's was fairly easy to move once assembled and hang level with two people, though it is not light. I was worried only two mounting bolts wouldn't hold the unit but it has not budged since we placed it. We attached it to a cross-brace along the studs of the coop wall. The fold-up feature of the perches is perfect if you are training your new layers not to sleep in nest boxes. We did a little spot sanding on the perches which had a few splinters that might injure the chickens' feet. One of the bars was a little warped but hasn't caused issue and could easily be replaced with fresh lumber if you drill the holes for the bolts. Over time we have noticed that if the hens are really determined, they can pull the perches down to get into the boxes, but this only tends to happen on days we are late to get out to them. The bolt/nuts on the perch bars also loosen over time but we haven't lost any nuts yet and they are easily re-tightened in place. Because the frame is so strong and well-built, we attached a bar along the underside that we hang 2 12-pound feeders from. Works great and protects the feeders from perching and pooping! I really like the look and durability of the galvanized metal in our coop and am so happy I can support American-made. The price on Amazon couldn't be beat and there were no issues with shipping packaging or delivery. Definitely recommend to chicken keepers with smaller production flocks, especially if you want to save the step of building boxes.

I’m happy with the purchase but had to give a 3 star review due to the top being bent and it missing half of the hardware so I had to go purchase more hardware to finish it. All in all a nice nesting box just wish it would’ve came complete and in good shape

These are my very fave nesting boxes and the second time/size I've bought them. I highly recommend getting steel boxes to deter the bugs and for ease of cleaning. Very easy to put together too.

Fantastic deal with free shipping! I bought three of these and absolutely love them. The directions were very easy to read, you could tell they were not made in China and translated like so many things we buy these days. The closing of the boxes is awesome and keeps the chickens out. I would highly recommend these boxes.

Arrived quickly, easy to put together if you read all instructions before assembling. Easy to clean and chickens started laying in it right away. Good quality and will last for years, would definitely recommend it.

I would like to give these nesting boxes a better review, but they need a little work first. I ordered two 4-hole nesting boxes. Our hens like them, but fight over who is going to lay in the prized bottom holes. They have only twice laid on the floor and it could be because the hole they wanted was occupied by a hen who didn't want company or to be booted. There are a two issues we found with the box set-up. 1. The panels don't fit right to line up with the screw holes and the top of the box frame is folded over at the wrong angle (they need a couple more centimeters of space and they will both fit and meet the holes properly). We had a not-fun time trying to get the screws in by hand and then with the drill. They're definitely sturdy! 2. The nesting inserts in the top boxes can tip and do tip from time-to-time. Would recommend a lip edge on the inside front and back as well as the existing side lip edges (with a little ring for easy removal to pull them up and out for cleaning) so they can't fall down. We had a missing pullet one evening who had just started laying. We finally found her and saw that the insert had tipped, she had fallen into the bottom box and the insert had fallen on top of her at an angle, blocking the opening so she couldn't get out, and had nearly pinned her neck to the far side. Overall, I would recommend these, just be prepared to wrestle with the setup and have a drill handy for the top back screws. And snug those nesting inserts in well.
