Honestly, this is the highest quality emulator that I have tried from Amazon, and I've tried a few.The controls feel more fluid and responsive, the screen is super clear and bright, and the weight doesn't give me cheap vibes like it's mostly an empty plastic shell.Now, I'm definitely out of my depth with the level of customization that this device offers. I had never heard of Retroarch, liners, shaders, overlays, etc., before playing around with these settings. If you have no idea either, I suggest videos and forums to help you familiarize yourself with all these programs have to offer. If you don't want to go that deep, you can still easily navigate this device, and enjoy the MANY preloaded games with the default settings.There are a lot of popular games to choose from that should get the nostalgia flowing for the older gamers, particularly the Gen X-ers and Millennials. But don't bother searching for preloaded Mario games. There's pics of Mario everywhere, but not a single Mario game.

Full disclosure - I had to return my first one. QA on these units can be a little hit and miss, but if you get one that works 100%, then they're pretty awesome. Read on to find out more...I have used... a lot of retro handhelds over the past few years. Around 30 or so. This is one of the few that I've kept and will continue to keep. For (most) Dreamcast and below, I believe it's one of the best options out there. Why? THE SCREEN.It's not the best panel in the world, to be sure. But the resolution is fantastic for this size. And the 1:1 aspect ratio has some real benefits. You can run many retro systems (SNES, etc) at 8:7 aspect ratio and they still look really good. That takes up most of the screen and gives you a nice, big picture. If you run at 4:3 it still looks great, but boosting it up gives you more real estate, which i prefer. Also, arcade games in TATE mode are freaking amazing. And, of course, it's perfect for GB/GBC games. Best handheld out there for those games, IMHO.Controls feel pretty good, but there is a known issue where diagonals register too easily for some folks. Personally, I found this to be the case and fixed it by swapping out for a different d-pad. Not for everyone, but worked great in the long run.Performance is good, for the most part. It plays up to Dreamcast pretty well, but there are some Dreamcast games that can stutter on it and generally demand a little more than the handheld can supply. However, for everything from SNES on down, it's a completely happy camper and fantastic.It's light, easy to pocket, and is the ultimate "take it anywhere and not worry about it" handheld. Battery life should get you through most of the day, too.The one other thing to be aware of is that the SD cards that are used in these devices are not great. You'll want to replace them with Samsung or Sandisk or another name brand sooner than later. These cards have been known to die within the first week. But, a new one will give you the opportunity to put something like JELOS firmware or something on them.Still, despite the few shortcomings, this handheld is just awesome in use. The 4" 1:1 screen is just incredible for a lot of retro systems and gives a lot more real estate in a smaller area than a 16:9 or 4:3 screen. Honestly, this is the budget handheld I recommend to people that just want to play the older systems. I love mine as a perfect pick-up-and-play device.

The console is great and you can play right out of the box no problem.There are plenty of settings to tweak and play around with. You can also perform some software and physical mods on it.The console overall is great. The way the battery works is quirky (and this can be seen in reviews, reddit and such)-you need to use a USB-A to USB-C and a cheap old charger to charge it.-it charges in the left USB-C port.-It goes into a semi ON state to charge, then you need to "turn it off" to then turn it back on-sleep mode drains battery pretty fast I would say so I dont recommend itNote: if you're gonna mod, be VERY CAREFUL with the circular Wi-Fi antenna because it has a tendency to break and you would have to soldier it back on.

The games would freeze up and require reboots. The system would also slow to a crawl and would only work again when reset. The battery drain was ridiculous. From 87 to 84 in a mere few seconds while idling. Not sure if I received a bad unit or if this is the case with this brand. Other than that it’s a great system with a beautiful square screen perfect for games like Pac-Man and arcade airplane shooter types

This device works great when I set up the OS myself with my own SD cards, roms etc. I like the big screen and I don't have any problems with the buttons, size or placement. The sticks work just fine with games that use them. I have to mention that the stock installation had some issues that popped up, like putting SNES on a tiny, tiny window, then inexplicably putting a GBA Advance border on everything. I mean you don't buy this for the setup or content that's included, but buyer needs to beware that to get the most out of this, you need to be willing to fiddle with it yourself and you may run into issues with "included" games, etc. I attempted to reset some settings and it suddenly made everything on my second SD card unavailable; my PC doesn't even see the files anymore. After that, I got my own brand name SD cards, set up everything myself, and it's all up and running again with only what I put on it. So five stars is for the device itself, the case and screen protector that's included, and I suppose the demo cards that show what this can do.

I love this game device. I’ve lost entire days to it and the fact that it came with a bunch of games preloaded is fantastic. My only critiques are that it’s not super great for DS touch screen games due to not having touch screen and the battery is not great.To be fair if these are the only issues than this product is a hardcore solid steal and I highly recommend especially for the price. The battery life is about 90 minutes so it’s not super great but if you have a super long usb c cable and you don’t mind playing this “portable” device plugged in then you should be groovy.Also check out the retro gaming guides on YouTube. So many good channels to help newcomers to this stuff.

Took some fafing but that's part of the fun to me. tape-modded the d-pad and installed ark-os.

It is a very nice device with a good screen. With it being long, arcade shoot em up is a blast. When the battery drained it was only able to charge to 24%. Need to open up the device to unplug battery for 10 second and reconnect. To open, recommend getting plastic opener tools to not damage the body.For charging, cannot use type c to type c cable.. it must be usb a to type c and use the usb port not otg port.

This handheld is exactly what I wanted and it is so much fun playing all the games I played in the 80s and 90s.

I received the product and I was happy like a child back in 1986 at Christmas time. I gleefully opened the package in expectation at being able to play all those games I couldn’t afford as a child.The machine came with 42% battery and I was elated that I could play for a few minutes.I played the machine for 30 minutes and the battery went down to 3% and decided to plug it in.The next day I woke up expectantly, like a child, yearning his present from Christmas.Unfortunately, the unit would not turn on, I tried every way to turn it on, and it will not turn on. The unit is broken, as is my heart…I will be returning this product and unfortunately I will not order another one.
