I bought these to help smooth, the inside of my horses heels, after trimming her. I’m not able to get my hoof rasp in the right place to smooth her heels and frog's, in certain places.These files are perfect! Because, the teeth on the file go all the way to the tip. I’m able to the tip of the file in the right place, to make her heels feel comfortable, so she’ll lean back into her heels, as horses are intended to instead of weighting their toes. I’m so happy, I decided to give these a try. I’ll definitely, buy them again.

I have had these on my wish list for years and then randomly decided to get them. Holy moly I don’t know why I waited so long. They work extremely well. You can really dig in and remove a lot of wood or work gently and remove less and leave a smoother finish. Gets into all the curves and such required when making wood longbows and guitar necks.

While I don’t usually refer to hand tools as “smart” I break my own rule with these wood rasps. They’re at least as smart as the owner. It’s no secret that tapered shaping tools give you more control, allow you to do more in tighter situations, but the range of possibilities with the NKTM set of 3 gives good results and adds to your capability. Flat on one side, slightly rounded on the other, right down to the tip, these allow you to efficiently work the edges of through holes and tight angles. I’ve even used these to clean up some hand cut mortices. These seem to cut well at the edges, in both directions and have turned even my worst newby carving project into something approaching respectable. I no longer wincingly reach for any of the rattail files hoping they might be the solution to a shaping problem. The NKTM now live close at hand and occupy a valued place on the bench. As for the gold, or brass, or lunar dust, whatever the coating is, I’m not so sure that adds anything to the performance of the tools. Irrespective, they do work as I was hoping. I find that some things I buy just don’t get the kind of use I was excited about when I bought them. These rasps do. I’m uncertain about how long they’ll last, but if they wear out, for the price I would just get another set. ‘Nuff said.

At first I was blown away with how much material these rasps can remove with each stroke. The teeth were so sharp I had to get a new set of gloves because they shredded the finger tips of my cheap pair.Unfortunately, after a reasonable amount of use, I've seen a lot of dulled teeth in the middle of the rasp forcing me to use the parts of the rasp that were still sharp.

Decent. Not as smooth cutting as my Nicholson 49 and 50, but faster cutting and I wanted the pointed shape. Just like others I didn’t like the handles and replaced them with maple ones I turned. For the price they’re pretty good. Not sure why they painted them gold.

These rasp files work very fast!I use them often for woodworking.

Dulled very fast

Bought these to try out in my guitar building hobby. Having been a woodworker for 40 years now I know when a tool is decent and when not. These are not of the quality of some of the more expensive name brand versions. However, they do work well as long as you understand they are not industrial grade. I had no issues carving maple and walnut or cherry. They cut pretty easily and did not fill up with wood so needing to be cleaned. Can not comment on longevity as I have only used them for a few hours. But if they work in the future like they did I can heartly recommend them. Also its nice they have their own vinyl pouch to put in when finished using them.
