Amazing cleats, unbelievable step up from generics
I have been biking in "house brand" cycling shoes from the bike store in the strip mall and was having huge trouble clipping into and out of my pedals, to the point where I took one or two falls because I couldn't clip out in time when stopping. Being hugely frustrated, I bought a new pair of bike shoes, not realizing until I arrived that the shoes did not come with cleats! So I bought these cleats, screwed them into my new bike shoes, and started biking. Oh my goodness! What a difference! While my new bike shoes are awesome, these cleats are no less awesome. They clip in and out of the pedals effortlessly, twisting to either the right or the left, but stay snug and firmly attached otherwise. I never knew what a huge difference an inexpensive pair of name brand cleats could make. Guess that's why Shimano is such a respected name in the biking market.

I may not use a single-release cleat again. I love these!
These release with a twist of the heel like regular cleats, but also if you pull your foot up and out at an angle, like you might in a panic situation. They don't release pulling straight up, so I don't think I'll have any problems with accidental release while climbing or anything. This just gives me a bit more confidence when the conditions are a bit sketchy that I won't get caught clipped in. Great if you're having trouble gaining confidence with clipless pedals, or if, like me, you like having cleats for commuting but value easy release in traffic situations. So far I still have single-release cleats on my "sporty" shoes, but I'm starting to think "why?"

easy to unclip
this is exactly what I was looking for, they allow me to unclip pretty easily moving my feet to any direction. Depending on where you are riding(off-road) turning your feet outside is difficult, therefore having the ability to do it at any direction is crucial.

Excellent for casual cyclists and beginners.
I love the SH56 cleats as compared to the SH51 style cleats. I am a casual cyclist doing mostly road cycling. I'm not doing extreme downhill or anything where a strong, impermeable connection to my pedals is highly important. I'm not racing or anything. Mostly I commute and cycle for fitness. So the SH56's are perfect. They keep my feet in position on the pedals and they allow me to easily break the connection to the pedals for stopped traffic or unexpected stops. I hated clipless pedals before this because I fell down constantly. Now, with these, I am starting to clip-in and unclip naturally without concentrating too much on it. That's how it should be: second nature.

SH-56 Shimano cleat
I installed these cleats on a new pair of Shimano SD-66 sandals that replaced a worn out pair of Lake sandals that are now no longer made. Had ridden 39,000 miles in the Lakes with the single release SH-51 cleat. Now riding a Catrike Expedition and wanted the multi release Sh-56 cleat and now with a couple hundred miles on the new sandals and cleats believe that they are easier to release. All in all a good choice for ease and safety on my trike.

Great cleats; very universal
Exactly what they say they are. For starting out in the clipless world, I recommend these over the single release as these are easier to unclip since there are more ways to do so; much more natural motion to unclip in a panic situation. However, if you're doing hardcore cycling or tough hills, these can unclip during vigorous pedaling due to the multirelease mechanism. Just about all shoes with cleat mounts will accept SPD cleats and most spin bikes at gyms have SPD pedals.

Safe for clips
They are just great to learn clips techniques on. I'd you pull and jiggle your foot around enough you will come out so if you are tipping and panicking it's still safe.

shoe size must be for babies
Although these shoes are TWO sizes above my normal size they are so narrow that my fit get numb after 30 minutes of spin class; also, the Velcro tends to be too short when I try to loosening my shoes a bit. Not very happy for such a price!
