Obviously a very good device
Introduction:The Orange Pi 5 Plus with 32 GB RAM was one of the first Rockchip RK3588 boards equipped with such an impressive memory capacity. In comparison, a current Raspberry Pi 5 only has 8 GB RAM, highlighting the Orange Pi's performance. You really get a lot of ports for your money here.Hardware Features:Particularly impressive are the two Ethernet ports and numerous USB connections of the Orange Pi. This provides a variety of connectivity options, noteworthy for a Single Board Computer (SBC).AI Performance Compared to Nvidia:An interesting point is the comparatively low load on the Orange Pi compared to Nvidia SBCs, especially the Jetson Orin Nano Dev Kit (8 GB). While larger models like SDXL Turbo can't run on the Nvidia board due to limited RAM,While the SBC from Nvidia (Jetson Orin Nano Dev Kit (8GB) costs 3 times as much as the Orange PI, Larger models such as SDXL Turbo do not run on the Jetson Orin Nano because there is simply not enough RAM, while the Orange PI is only use 14 of the 32 GB RAM adviable. The AI model also only ran CPU accelerated for me, (i.e. without using the 5 teraflops NPU of the board). It took me about 1 minute to generate an image, which is fine for CPU accelerated use of the model. My Surface was not faster at the CPU accelerated generation of the AI image.NPU usage:To run the models directly via the NPU of the RK 3588 you have to convert them first. the manufacturer provides instructions on Github in the repositories RKNPU2 and rknn-toolkit2.I have not yet been able to test this. The Orange Pi shows what is technically possible, while competing products from Nvidia and Raspberry Pi seem rather backward compared to the Orange Pi.I was also impressed by how many different operating systems are already available for the board. It's just a shame that the board can't be ordered directly from Amazon.de (Amazon Germany) and is also not available from various Chinese importers in Germany. For the price, I can recommend it to anyone.

32GB on an Small Board Computer, WOW!!!
OrangePi 5 Plus 4/8/16 were great boards, I already owned a 16GB OrangePi 5 Plus. So when the 32 GB board came out, I jumped to get one. Now I have a small board computer that I can use as a desktop. I am able to run programs like OBS and Minecraft.

this thing is great!
I love this pi.Yeah not quite as seamless as Raspberry Pi but if you're willing to play with it, it is superior in my opinion. The biggest issue I have run into is that the integrated gpu is 'dumb'. The pi basically tries to undertake all tasks with the cpu even if they are media related (i.e. video playback on browser/local) - overworking the little guy and producing poor quality. However, this can be fixed - and if you get it fixed, it is GREAT!Use joshua-riek ubuntu 22.04 if you want basic computer/media center/ubuntu-life stuff. Idrk what he did but he got the gpu enabled in chromium making for great video playback. I don't remember what else if anything Ive done to enable the gpu for gpu things.Armbian if you are solely using this for "l337 power-user" stuff. Armbian > ^^^ in most things except video. Slightly faster, less bullsh*t.But I am currently using the aforementioned ubuntu build and it can play 4K video on a 50" TV at 15-25% load (or less, using the gpu).I also recommend getting that little black case with the fan and baby heatsinks and thermal paste. It runs hot under load without it but with those items, highest temp I've seen is 115* at around 90% load.

Missing
Missing power button only figured it out after putting it all together.

Great hardware, great price
it is a great option for using at home, unfortunately, it's very hard to install all the software and drivers that are needed to use the hardware at 100%

Awesome
This thing is perfect for pretty much whatever you want to do with it! If you're patient and willing to learn (or know already) the software on how to make it happen. I think these boards deserve way more attention than they get 👍🏻

Item delivered is as promised.
I have also been using RasPi 4b, 8GB for a year. I wanted to get the next Gen Orange Pi 5 Plus, 32GB to expand usage. This new Gen is all it is cracked up to be. There is enough RAM now to be able to run non-headless with a GUI, and the speed is 4x that of RasPi 4b. I highly recommend this Orange Pi 5 Plus!!

Limited and old kernel support
Only supports 6.1 kernel rockchip device kernel is way behind mainline, so I can't exactly call this device secure or recieving any modern patches/fixes. 6.8 has very limited support without HDMI Audio, so its practically a paperweight if you want to use this thing as a desktop PC at all. You can build your own Armbian flavour for the thing but will have limited support. Also watch it with the RTLE Wi-Fi module that comes with the thing...it was a pain and I ended up having to find a heavy technical workaround to get this Wi-Fi module to work.
