merc London Men's Harrington Navy Casual Jacket

If you aren't going to be spending near £300 on a Baracuta, and you know you won't feel good wearing an under-£20 cheapo, then this is an attractive one. Most of the styling details of a Harrington are there -- the stand up collar, the ribbed waist and cuffs, the reverse-flap pockets, the slim fit. It appears to have a yoke at the back, but it is only single-thickness so won't help in a shower. The sleeves are set-in, not raglan. This is not an exact copy of a Baracuta, and it is made in China, but I would call it the next best thing.The poly/cotton outer material seems good quality, the brushed cotton lining less so. The zip (not YKK) looks OK and is a vital component. So far, so good. It is only a single-puller type.I was very pleased with the dark red colour, that goes well with jeans, black trousers and pale chinos. In cooler weather, this will look good over a black polo-neck.

Received less than 48 hrs after ordering by Royal Mail "Signed for", another example of dumbing down, what was wrong with "Recorded Delivery"?First impressions good quality, well put together, unfortunately "Made in China"! Description says YKK zip fastener, the YKK logo is nowhere on the zip. Warning bells rang, is this a forgery? A quick look on Merc's website allayed my fears, the zip shown there is exactly the same.About sizing, I would recommend looking at the size chart on the Merc site before ordering, Amazon's chart is misleading, had I relied on that I would have ordered a Large, the XL I have is just about passable, if I was ordering again I think I would go for a XXL.Weather outside is a little too warm to be wearing it just yet, but it will be fine (no pun intended) when it gets a little breezier.All in all a good buy, I'm sure it's the pick of the bunch, unless you can afford a Baracuta.

Great looking, very stylish jacket with an overall good quality, but not perfect. I've bought 100€ jackets with better built and materials quality. Just fyi, these jackets are made in China. Looking closely at the jacket one can notice that attention to detail wasn't that much of a a concern when making it, and the cotton used on the wrists and waist should be better quality (other materials are strong and adequate). On the second day, the material on the wrists was getting fuzzy and giving off fluff, which is a bad thing when you want your jacket to look new and sharp for a long time.As mentioned by other reviewers, the size is exactly one up from your usual size: I usually use Large, but with this one it has to be a XL (I bought one in Large before and had to return it).Nevertheless, it's a product I recommend: it looks great and the quality, although not perfect, is good enough.

I buy Levi jeans, Fred Perry polos and Merc jackets.I think Merc do the best value Harringtons

This is my son's second MERC Harrington, (his first was stolen at a pub). Good quality item and he insists this is the make to own - nothing else will do for him. I don't understand. I would have thought Baracuta G4 or G9 was the ultimate choice but I am not arguing as they are four times the price of a MERC.
