Question 1

First time using this particular brand. Instructions say use 2-3ppm but how do you work out how much that is? I have a 12ft 30inch deep bestway pool.

I usually add an amount equivalent to about a tablespoon of chlorine granules at a time after each hot tub use and test the ppm  using Pool check 3 in 1 pool & spa test strips which also test for total alkalinity and pH. I also test it with these once a week to make sure everything is ok. If anything is low I add an amount close to a tablespoon (using the cap of the container, just an estimate) and test again after a couple of hours. If you are trying to calculate the ppm in the total volume of water, ppm is equivalent to mg/1000ml or mg/litre if that helps so you would have to find the volume of your pool in metric. Hope this helps.

Hiya do not put the granules straight into the pool as once the granules sink to the bottom it seriously damages the bottom of the pool liner bottom, causing it to become brittle and break thus you'll have to buy another pool sober rather than later always do this
*Put some hot water into a plastic bucket first, about 2 liters (do not use metal ones) (
*Go outside is best! or in a very ventilated place
*Take a measure of your chlorine granules and very carefully add them into the bucket of water, making sure there's no splashback
*With only a long wooden/plastic spoon very Gently stir to get the water moving a bit ideally stay with the mixture until it's dissolved, 3/5 minutes max  (do not use metal spoons) DO NOT USE THIS SPOON FOR FOOD AFTERWARDS)
 and definitely (DO NOT SPLASH OR GET ANY IF THIS ON YOUR HANDS OR ARMS EVEN ONE DROP!) if you do wash with running water IMMEDIATELY EVEN IF ITS ONLY A DROP) (DO NOT INHALE ANY OF THE VAPOUR THAT COMES OFF IT!!

You can bypass this if you have a safe place to let it dissolve without mixing MAKING SURE ITS AWAY FROM ANY ANIMALS/CHILDREN & NOONE ELSE GOES NEAR IT, STAY WITH IT COS ITS VERY DANGEROUS STUFF 
* very carefully and slowly, gently pour into pool with the filter pump on, (MAKING SURE THERE IS NO SPLASHBACK) gently rinse/swill out the bucket in the pool (without using hands) but in a slightly different part to where you poured in the mixture 
(WASH HANDS AND FORARMS AFTERWARDS) JUST IN CASE

Can the tablets be used for washing machine laundry

Just had a look at the lable on the bottle, it looks as if it's more for disinfection rather than cleaning as such. 
There's no reccomendation for washing machine use.
I suppose you could try it but on a pair of old jeans or similar.
Are you having difficulty getting some clothes clean?
Personally, I allways beleive in washing at a higher temperature, as high as the clothes can take it.
With older jeans and polo shirts etc. I've washed them at 90 C with no harm, also a really hot wash will kill any bacteria which may be lurking as a result of continual low temperature washes these days.
The occaisional really hot wash doesn't add much to the electricity consumption.
