Vintage!
Not only does this tab every guitar part extremely well it even contains a little introduction by Wolf Marshall (check out his essential blues licks tab book here on Amazon) and a technical description of each song which is very rare nowadays. Coming in at just under 100 pages for 12 songs you know this is a guitar-led album. To put that into context; Another guitar heavy album (Everything Must Go by The Manic Street Preachers) also contains 12 songs and comes in at around 60 pages of tab. As expected there is a description of tablature contained within but if you need that don't buy this book!Something that is often overlooked in these books is the vocal notation. This book doesn't just contain the lyrics it contains the notes sung vocally in standard notation. This means they can be used for guitar too so if there's a guitar-free interlude you can play along with the vocals for a bit, though beware there's nothing guitar-free about this album! If I have to pick some faults they would be the rather shabby art design (purple on the front!?) and the age of the book meaning the tabs are not the same as ones used in more recent publications. The difference is minimal though and is easy to adapt to on a book-by-book basis. I'm aware that Slash is a well-respected guitarist and is often an inspiration for many starting musicians but you really shouldn't purchase this book until you are ready to tackle it. If, like me, you learnt the Sweet Child O' Mine main riff when you first started out then good for you! But it doesn't mean you can ace this book. Want to really test your capabilities? try the improvised outro to Paradise City! :)
