Solid Knife!
Pictures compared with a Fallkniven A1 and RC-6 (ESEE 6). Yes, my knives are rough because I actually use them. I always keep those edges shaving sharp though. IMO, this is alot of knife with great features for a steal! I really like the handle with the double guard. For those who don't like the top guard you can easily remove it with a saw, etc. If you're pushing this blade into a "tactical" role, keep both guards. Handle is really comfy but a little slippery. Not an issue as the shape locks your hand into it anyway. I've read others filling in the gaps in the handle with rubber O-rings to increase grip. The swedge is now unsharpened though can easily be sharpened if desired. Better option for those who are in states/countries who can't carry knives with sharpened swedges (aka "daggers" *eyeroll) or for being less of a problem when wanting to baton it through smaller pieces of wood. The black coating on the blade is very rough and does affect slicing potential but at the same time it seems to wear rather quickly. The blade geometry is slightly uneven and the edge is too steep and as sharp as a butter knife but with a sharpening system you can easily reprofile it and get it to very sharp within an hour of elbow grease. Hey, it's a $35 knife....is what it is. But it's worth the effort. I haven't been able to get the edge as sharp as my Fallkniven, but it's pretty darn close which is awesome!Honestly, I feel like the grip is the most comfortable out of the other two much more expensive knives! My perfect blade would be the A1, with the thinner ESEE 6 blade thickness, and this Ontario SP2 handle! The updated molle sheath is way better than the older one now. I spray painted the sheath and gorilla taped on a pouch with a DC4 sharpening stone and ferro rod.For someone on a tight knife budget, this is a great knife capable of some surprisingly heavier duty tasks! I've been batoning tons of hardwood logs with it just to see what it can take....which is a lot! Also, a more than capable defensive blade. Great option for a chest rig or plate carrier. Just enough knife for serious work but without being too heavy.

Amazing Survival Knife!!!
I really wanted a medium size fixed blade knife made in the U.S. of A. I was looking at all the major US brands and came across this Ontario Knife Company blade. I was kinda reluctant to buy a knife at this price that my life might depend on, but the reviews were generally positive. Well, I received the knife today and I gotta admit, that this is a steal at under $30. I almost what to buy another one to just leave in my SUV. The knife is pretty sharp right out of the box, the metal thickness is good, grip is outstanding and weight/balance is excellent. I really like the sheath, it's really well made and fit the knife perfectly. It also has molle strap on the back, which I'll use to lash this on my pack. This is an absolute home run. I'm a huge Ontario Knife Company fan now!!!

Great American Survival Knife And At A Good Price
Pros:1) Knife Came Sharp & Pointy Out Of The Box.2) The Handle Feels Great In My Hands.3) The Sheath That Comes With This Knife Is Better Than The M10 Sheath That Came With My General Cutlery M7 Bayonet.4) Anyone On A Budget Can Afford This Knife (Less Than $30).5) Made In The Greatest Country On Earth (The United States Of America).6) The Blade Is Made Out Of 1095 Carbon Steel.Cons:1) The "Saw" Feels More Like A Grip Than A Saw; It's Way Too Dull To Be A "Saw".2) The Blood Groove Could Have Been Made A Little Deeper. The Knife Is Shorter Than My M7 Bayonet And Longer Than My Blue Kershaw 1776 Knife. All 3 Knives Are Made In The Greatest Country On Earth (The United States Of America) And Are All Great Knives.Kershaw 1776NBBW:Blade Is 1 1/4" Wide And 3 1/8" Long. Get one now if you want it.
Well, Ontario Knife has been sold and may not come back- at least not Made in USA anyway- so if you always wanted one of these get it now.As for the knife itself.....Well, it is a sturdy piece of good steel (either 1095 or 1075) and the price is right for a USA-made knife. The handle material is supposed to be Kraton, but seems rather soft- it still feels good in the hand.Others have reported the sawback was dull, but my example is crisp and sharp.I wish I could say the same for the edge, however. It is razor-sharp in spots and blunt in others- there is no consistency in the grind. Even worse, the false back edge is unevenly machined. The blade epoxy coat is fairly attractive and seems durable, so there's that. Also, I found the sheath (Made in China) usable and not as bad as I was lead to expect.Overall, it's a decent field knife that should stand up to hard use, but there are certainly better options out there from Morakniv, Buck, and Gerber for around the same price.
