Why did you pick this product vs others?:So far it is working great. Cats are a little scared of it. The only thing I don’t like is PetKit wants you to pay for a subscription to video your cats eating. Overall it was easy to set up and there is a video on YouTube you can watch how to take it apart and clean it.

My cats would wake me up at 6 am before, so I bought this to have more shut-eye. It works great! I also use this during those times when I can't make it back home in time to feed them wet food. It has saved me and my cat children more times than I can count. It holds a lot of food, and I usually don't have to refill it until after a month. It's a little loud when dispensing, but it doesn't bother me. It also speaks when it's feeding time, and my cats go zooooooming to it. I purchased this for my outside feral kitties so they’re fed when I’m not home as they arrive at all hours of the day and night, this feeder is the perfect cat feeder!! I can dispense as much as needed per cat and the food is always fresh thanks to the desiccant inside the food bin. It has a square flat bottom so larger animals cannot tip it over or open the food container (pesky raccoon & opossum)! I love it, now I receive a notice when my feral kitties arrive and I can feed on demand without leaving food for undesirables. Awesome product!

Works perfect. It has a plug in and it also takes D batteries in case the power goes out. I have scheduled feedings set (1/10cup) for every 6 hours and I pour 1/2 a bag of wet food in the bowl twice a day. The bowl wipes cleans very easily doesn’t stick. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because a separate subscription is required, after the 1 week trial ends, for video playback on both of my petkit devices (purobot ultra litterbox and dual hopper feeder). Live video works fine no subscription required.

The PETKIT app is poorly implemented and largely non-functional. I bought this Petkit Automatic Cat Feeder because it promised being able to identify my two cats and calculate their food requirements based on weight and metabolic needs. Using this info I wanted to program daily feedings customized for each cat. This product is another example of decent hardware with poor software implementation. Unfortunately, Petkit and Amazon failed to disclose that the app isn't ready for the hardware. I consider this failure to be a bait and switch scam and I'd return it but I already tossed the package because the delivery person left it in the rain without a plastic wrap for protection.Linking the app and feeder was easy. Connecting to my home router/wifi was easy. It even ran an automatic software upgrade so I know I have the latest, greatest app software. So far so good.Next task is to program my two cats into the Feeding Calculator. Entering the name is easy. Enter the weight? The app reverts to a default weight of 6.8 pounds every time. So it fails to update the cats's weights. FAIL! There isn't any obvious way to edit the cat information either. So another FAIL! Interesting is that I have the PetKit Puramax automatic litter box with my cats' weights entered correctly. The feeder links to the info but changes the weights without any input from me. Another FAIL?Next it asks me to enter their cat food. I feed Purina Indoor Cat Food, a very common dry cat food pellet available in any American grocery store. Instead of a simple-to-use barcode reader that searches online and enters the food analysis for me, I have to enter the analysis manually. Okay, needlessly complicated but okay.The app lets me program the feeding schedule but I'm unable to vary the portion size. I ran a few trials and the portion size isn't consistent. That's a definite FAIL!!I have two PetKit water dispensors that work very well. The Petkit Pure Max Litter box works well. I really want the food dispenser to work just as well but for now the software is a FAIL!!

Truly, a lifesaver. I am so extremely grateful for this product and it has been nothing but a positive experience. This device gives me so much mental clarity when I know I’m going to be home outside of my usual hours, or gone for a day or two. It’s very precise, as well as has great video feed to see your animals.The feeder dispenses on average 10 g of food per serving, and for my male 16 pound cat, he’s supposed to eat around 100 g a day based off the food he eats. I have it timed so he receives 30 g in the morning, 20g in the afternoon, 30g for dinner, then 10g for a late night snack since he’s a bored eater.All super convenient and helps your pet have a set feeding schedule while not needing to forget or being able to not be home for a bit.You do have to pay either $3 to have one day worth of video replay capabilities, or $6/month to have video footage for up to a week which is kind of lame in my opinion but company is going to do what they can do to get residual income.I think one of the best things about this product is that you can also put batteries in it so in case the electricity goes out, it will still feed your pet. Similarly, what’s really nice is even if your Wi-Fi crashes, it will still feed your pet, which definitely blew me away.
