Great intro for 6yo
This was a perfect intro to Pokémon decks for my 6yo. It simplifies it by allowing the played energy to be used for any Pokémon played VS in more advanced play decks, you attach energy to specific Pokémon on your board. The only critique I have is that it would be nice of it came with something to keep the HP "coins". They slip out of the mini box that holds the 2 starter decks.

Great learning experience
Great for kids wanting to learn how to play the game. Small deck so younger kids do not get overwhelmed. Good for all ages to get started.

Perfect for a 5 year old!
My son had a blast understanding how to play! Personally I play a lot of card games and my son wanted to play a game with me. I saw this and figured we’d give it a shot. Man did we have a blast. The rules are simple and it really helped my son understanding sequencing and counting in 10s. He is happy he won’t his first two games and that’s because I didn’t go easy on him!

Best experience for new players and children
Overall, the First Battle deck is an excellent choice for your first Pokémon TCG deck. It offers a balanced, engaging experience that will help you learn the basics and start enjoying the game. As you become more familiar with the game, you may wish to explore additional deck-building strategies and card combinations to further enhance your gameplay.

Teaching Game
Pretty fun teaching my 6 year old how to play. You're not going to get Pokemon cards to trade, but you'll get an experience that sets up a foundation. Check out the other one as well to get more variety.

Love it.
If you’re just getting into trading card games, this makes it very simple. Being able to read and knowing how to count by 10’s will help you play against younger kids, but if not, it is slow and easy enough you can help them along. It doesn’t have long term playability, but is necessary for moving into bigger Pokemon games.

Not Pokemon cards
I obviously didn't read the full description of this product. My kids wanted to learn to play Pokémon, and I saw what is essentially a ‘How to play’ kit. I bought it, figuring that they could learn to play, then take these cards as a ‘starter’ set and add to them with packs of cards to be purchased as gifts/rewards.The cards that come with this kit CAN NOT be used with regular Pokémon cards. Instead, they are intended to be used just for the purpose of learning how to play. Once you learn how the game works, you throw them away or pass them on to friends/family that might also want to learn, while you begin collecting actual Pokemon cards to play with.I think this set does a pretty good job teaching you how the game is played. It comes with everything you need to play an abbreviated version of the game, but NOT the cards you would need to play against friends/family that already have their own decks. All in all, I’m glad my kids (and myself) were able to learn how the game works, but I’m disappointed that once the learning is done, these cards serve no purpose.I guess I don’t understand why the manufacturer wouldn’t just include real Pokemon cards in the set, that could be expanded into a more full deck.
