This inverter will work without a battery attached.
I'm using the 6.2KW inverter to power a 9,000 BTU mini-split air conditioner without a battery. I have 8 ea. 250W panels wired in series putting out approx 260V. My mini-split runs on 230V. The goal was to have the mini-split work via the inverter when the sun was shining on the panels. The unit is working great. My only complaint is the instructions are not great and don't explicitly say that the inverter will work without a battery hooked up. You have to feed the inverter more than 200V to have the inverter work without a battery. I found this information in an obscure location. I wanted to write this review so that others will find this information easier than I did.

50 Hertz Assassin
Please Note: This Review for 5.5kw & 6.2KWCareful - this might be a 50 hertz inverter. The U.S. has a 60 hertz grid - 50 Hz inverter will kill a lot of stuff designed for the U.S. grid - especially electric motors. It' a shame, because it looks like a good deal.I wrote the company inquiring what hertz this inverter outputs, (and the 5.5 kw) they replied --"Hello, friend.Thank you for your interest in our merchandise.5.5kw Output Frequency:50Hz"They did not specify the 6.2K - but I imagine it is the same - just a different flavor. I clearly inquired about both.Edit: I added the below to my review of the 5.5Kw - so I am also adding it here. See below:Edit:At the time of this writing YongHui included NoThing in their marketing that indicated this inverter was 50 / 60 Hz auto sensing. I saw nothing that indicated what Hz the inverter was and since it was 220v only I suspected it was designed for a European style grid. I reached out to YongHui and inquired what hertz it operated on. YongHui responded, “ Hello, friend. Thank you for your interest in our merchandise. 5.5kw Output Frequency:50Hz.”. I informed YongHui that 50 hz electricity can damage some electrical components designed for a 60 Hz grid. I also informed them that I felt responsible to inform consumers through reviews if they did not correct their marketing to clearly indicate it was a 50 Hz inverter. They responded, “Thank you very much for your kind reminder. However, we have written in detail about the specification parameters of the inverter in the description page of the product, and we will follow your tips to re-emphasize the description, thank you!” They had not, “ written in detail about the specification parameters of the inverter.” Nor did they, “re-emphasize the description.” I wrote reviews to inform the consumer. YongHui has since accused me of maliciously telling 'untruths' to discredit them. I said what they told me and added 50Hz will destroy 60 Hz motors – because – It Will. YongHui has now added a small graphic in one of their photos that indicates this inverter is 50 / 60 Hz auto sensing – that claim is also now down below in the marketing. It may very well be auto sensing – I don't know – it just seems odd to me. Why didn't they tell me that in the first place?I think in this new world and market place we live in it's going to, ultimately, be up to the consumer to protect the consumer. If we don't let the sellers know (with our reviews and purchases) what are acceptable and unacceptable marketing practices no one will. So, if we all do a little bit to help each other it might just make all our lives a little bit easier. Thanks for Reading - Have an Incredible Life!

well the first amazon Y&H 6.2KW was a 24 volt so i sent it back and orders Y&H 6.2KW 48volt..i have growatt spf 5000es .and also a spf 6000 t ,this Y&H 6.2KW 48v is performing better than either of the growatts ,it is producing more amps from my solar panels to charge my lithium Batteries . but only time will tell
