Perfect for saving space. Pretty sturdy but it takes a fair amount of effort for one person to get it extended tightly so it is secure. Or I’m just out of shape (likely). Don’t pull or hang on it and it’s fine, and so far is hanging one ~13lb road bike with no issues - heavier bikes might be a different story. Having a second person to set up would make it easier. It’s intuitive but there aren’t directions in case you need them (i.e. there are screws and drywall anchors but I don’t know why — isn’t the point of this thing to avoid all that?).

So this entire assembly relies on a plastic tightening ring to keep the extended pole in tension. When you put a bike on the top mount the pole wants to lower essentially disengaging the tension and dropping the entire assembly on yourself and car. The adjustability of the attachments are generally good but how do you sell something like this without instructions.

As you can see from the photo part of the plastic washer that helps hold the rack part at a given angle easily cracked. If you have a straight tubular bike (steel, titanium, or even lugged carbon) you're probably good - any other shape (Cannondale Synapse top tube) will not sit correctly in the hooks. You're getting maybe what you pay for here. Lots of plastic parts for tensioners. One of the hand-tightened screws that go into the back of the hook to hold it on the horizontal metal part was threaded incorrectly, from the factory. The cross threading was obvious on visual inspection. I'm not surprised this isn't available for sale anymore, but there are tons like it already up.

At first glance this appears to be a fine product---sturdy and well made. But the directions really suck. The illustration depicts parts that do not match the materials at hand so assemblage becomes a guessing game which I lost!. I am a contractor and pretty handy, but I was totally flummoxed how to get the tension in the pole to work effectively. One of the parts arrived damaged and they have the gall to charge me shipping to return this white elephant. Could not get the tension part to work to keep it from falling over--and NO DIRECTIONS as to how to remedy the issue. Shame on You for not spending a few dollars and including some up-to-date instructions that actually relate to the piece at hand. What a waste of time and energy. Save yourself plenty of agro and DO NOT BUY!!!!

The description says it will extend up to 11.5 feet, however it does not. The max it will extend to is 10feer 6inches, even the instructions that come with it say 10feet 6inches

Just opened it up. No directions whatsoever. Screws and hardware I have to figure out. Annoying!
