Good squad shooter.
As other reviews point out, this is not simply an updated version of Raven Shield. It's substantially different. Raven Shield was much more a game of tactics and planning throughout each mission and it allowed you to switch between characters. Vegas does not have those capabilities. Instead, you have a couple guys that you can control with simple, context based, commands. Vegas is more of a shooter where planning is largely based on the immediate goal of clearing a room or surviving until the next checkpoint. While I found Raven Shield to be intriguing, sophisticated, and novel in its design, it had more of a learning curve than Vegas. Vegas is definitely going to be appreciated by those who prefer run-and-gun style games and will be especially liked by those who enjoy squad shooters like BIA.Graphics are much improved over Raven Shield. I really liked the ability to take cover behind walls and other barriers and then pop your head around the corner or up over the top to shoot. It jumps into a 3rd person mode when you do that which actually permits you to see around the corner before you poke your head out. Very nice. Overall, I was quite pleased with the graphics, smoothness of action, and realism of the settings.Squad commands are easy to learn and the maps are specifically designed to make squad based operations useful. Most areas can be accessed from multiple entry points, so you become quite adept at sending your squad to one entrance while you take another for the purpose of storming in and taking out the enemy. The only problem I had was to occasionally mistake the current command context. I would sometimes plan to open a door, but because I wasn't quite close enough, it would issue the command for the squad to "stack up" on the door, but that was my fault since the game makes very clear what context commands are currently active.Another cool thing about the game is the snake camera that allows you to look under doors. You will find that very useful especially in hostage situations where it allows you to "tag" specific enemies in advance of entry as primary targets.I found the AI (both enemy and allied) to be quite good by the standards of the time. And, if one of the squad gets injured, you can patch him up, or you can make your other squad member do it. Oddly, your second squad member won't patch him up even if he's standing right next to him and there are no enemies around. You have to command him to do it. If you or a squad member gets killed, you have to start over at the last checkpoint.Overall, while different from Raven Shield, I still found the game to be top notch and exceptionally enjoyable to play. It's not particularly long, but worth the $5 I paid for it new. And it's modern enough where you don't feel like you're playing outdated cheesy graphics from yesteryear.

Best Game Played, Ever
Ubisoft had decided to continue the Rainbow Six franchise in the direction it took with the previous game, "Lockdown." As such this game is also a first person shooter game. I am afraid this is bad news for you fans of the strategy genre. But this is certainly good news for fans of the shooter-type games. This is a first person shooter game. Once again, who you take and what you plan is completely out of your hands, except on the field. All of the original Rainbow Six characters have been removed from this game, except for Ding Chavez, who is now Commander of Rainbow Six. There are seven new characters introduced in the game. The game proceeds in one predetermined direction. However, unlike in Lockdown, the team leader, Logan Keller, has his own unique persona in this game.Terrorists are no longer deadbeats. They engage in conversations with each other about what they are planning, and you can listen to them. However, you cannot take any action, on your own, based on what you heard. It is worth noting, however, that the terrorists' conversations are mindlessly repetitive. You get tired of it at a certain point. The story of the game is very interesting, although they made it a little too easy to guess who the culprit might be. The music is very good and fits the situations very well. The graphics and design of the game has undergone considerable improvement. No bugs that I noted in the game, although the game performs very poorly in Windows XP. The game works very well, without any problems, on Windows Vista and Seven. New combat movements in the game make it all the more exciting. Any Rainbow Six fan who likes shooter-type games will love this. This is a great buy.

My graphics look horrible!
I have an AMD A10 5800k APU and a Sapphire HD 7750 GPU with the latest drivers. I tried everything I could to set the graphics to max and they either look like Xbox (original, not 360) graphics or the game stops completely. What I'm getting looks nothing like the beautiful screenshots advertised for the PC download edition. Please reply if you are having the same issues or some ideas to fix this.Thanks!--Will update review if I can get it run properly in the future.

Rainbow Six Las Vegas is Good fun
While the game has its drawbacks like limited script vocabulary and poor voice work it is pretty good in terms of action and shoot 'em up fun. AI is only so so and shot detection is poor ( head shots won't always kill )graphics are decent but not earth shattering. All in all good fun though.

Serious problems
This is the only time I have ever felt screwed over by Amazon. They provide NO info on system requirements for the game. After trying to run it on numerous machines unsuccessfully, I now have a system powerful enough to run it and I cannot get activation codes from Ubisoft, the publisher. Their site which is supposed to resolve these issues does not load at all. If I had known exactly how demanding this game was with hardware I would have waited to buy it. Now I have it and a PC that will run it and the game refuses to load, and the company's support is worthless.
