Works brilliantly !!!
Reviewed by a very amateur middle aged wannabe rockstar... Upgraded from a cheep sprung lever style capo to this. I was having issues with notes distorting, not fretting down correctly and lots of string buzz, a completely useless capo but I only paid about a fiver for it. Took this G 7th out the packet slapped it straight on the third fret of my Epiphone SJC acoustic and it just worked, didn't even have to adjust tension. Gone are distorted notes and buzzing strings, it works brilliantly. So will if fit my Les Paul ? Yes it will. Excellent, so next test, a1982 Westone Thunder 1A, amazing it also works brilliantly on that. Wanders off to get my bass guitars out...I rarely use a capo on bass but thought I'd give it a whirls and guess what, also works a treat on both a 1982 Thunder 1 Fretless and my new Yamaha TRBX304 although I did have to increase the tension quite a bit. Overall a great product, expensive but as the saying goes buy cheap buy twice, which is exactly what I've done and this looks and feels like it will provide many years of service. A vastly superior upgrade to what I had.

Quality comes at a price
This is a big improvement on the fist g7ths. It is very easy to use with one hand, it is lightweight, feels very well made when handling and looks smart on any guitar. It takes a bit of tweaking when first setting to your neck size but after that you are sorted. The only issue is the price as it is 2 or 3 times the price of other capos

A Schubb dressed up
Love this capot. I see there are some reviewers saying they don't work and reporting issues. I think anyone who has used a Schubb will have no issues with this. It is basically an improved (my opinion) version of a Schubb. G3 have improved the mechanism slightly and made it look much prettier by streamlining it with a skin (Something Schubb might well have thought of doing themselves had they not rested on their laurels). The loose dangly bit that swings around like a donkey with a semi when not in use is with this capot still in a firm position not moving around loosely dangleing I've uploaded some pictures for comparrison. Also I've found a neat way to keep it. These fit perfectly in SOME of those little pouches for in ear headphones. Absolutely recommend these capots.

G7 Newport Guitar Capo
A smooth elegantly designed capo which, while it has not released me from my search for the perfect capo, is probably one of the best, combining the virtues of the ease of action and firmness of the Shubb with the ultra lightness of the Planet Waves capos. Personally, I feel it need not have been quite so light as there can sometimes be slight rotation of the angle which may be related to the narrowness of the bar, which might be better with a width closer to G7's Performance capo. It is not so easy/quick to remove as the Performance. I find this particularly when I use it the opposite way round to normal in order to partially capo the top five strings - in that case the open side is on top and the smoothness of the profile means there is not an obvious point to unclip it - the thumb just glides over the clip as the locked position is very close to the guitar neck. The lock is not so positive as it is with a Shubb so that sometimes it is not certain that it is locked. However, overall it works well and tends to be the one I now keep in my pocket.

Great little capo. Super easy to use and adjust for neck thickness. No more bent strings when trying to get that capo just right. Sleek profile means no more knocking it out of position during chord changes. Best capo I've ever owned.

Es realmente el diseño de capotraste mejor concevido para mi gusto. Me encanta.

Simplement parfait!

Needed a replacement for my Kyser Quick Change capo that busted a spring. I play in an environment (a pit) that requires a quick change of keys on short notice between several guitars. Most of the time I do not need a capo so I choose to have one that fits all of my guitars (except a 12 string that has its own). The reviews for this capo seemed positive, including ease and quickness of applying it, so I decided to give it a try. I also did not want to purchase the Kyser due to the spring failure. Other than the spring, the Kyser is a fine capo too. Applying it is as simple as it looks on the G7 website illustrated with videos. The capo clamps on similar to the Kyser (or any other spring loaded quick change capo). The difference is after closing the capo on the neck, the tension adjustment adds additional pressure to eliminate any buzzing, and the adjustment also allows more flexibility with placement between frets. The capo can be centered or close to a fret and any buzzing can be eliminated. If you apply the capo to the same guitar and similar location within the fret position, you do not have to adjust the tension each time. I find by habit I adjust the tension each time since this is still very quick to do. I use this on the following guitars and strings: Taylor 310CE with light polyweb elixirs; Martin D28 with Medium (phosphor bronze always varying manufacturer), Takamine CD132SC Nylon string D'Addario Pro Arte normal tension. I have tried it on a Taylor 354 12 string (light elixir polyweb) and it sounds fine on that too. The point is this capo works well across various tensions/gauges and neck widths. Some of the complaints have been where to put the capo. I keep it in a pouch with the music so I do not have this problem. I do not place capos on the guitar unless I am using it. The size makes it easy to put in a pocket. This is not an issue for me.
