BMW Apple CarPlay Upgrade
I own a 2015 BMW 320i and recently encountered some minor problems with the factory screen. This replacement/upgrade is an excellent choice and can be installed by yourself with just a few tools and minimal effort. The new screen allows for seamless switching between the original factory software and CarPlay, without interfering with the rear camera. While the instructions could use some improvement, I managed to complete the installation without needing the “helpline.” It took me about 75 minutes to install, but I believe I could do it in around 20 minutes if I had to do it again. If your vehicle has a multi-disc CD changer/player, be prepared to adjust some cables to ensure everything fits back in place, but it is definitely manageable.Pros:Larger screenTouchscreen functionalityFits flush with existing hardwareEasy navigationCons:Instructions could be clearerI would definitely purchase this again if necessary—10/10.

Installation can be difficult, but don't give up
I've seen some people say this is "plug and play" but that was not my experience on my 2015 BMW 328i. Unless you are familiar with installing car stereos (opening up your whole dashboard), then this is not what the average person would consider plug and play. The one critical piece of feedback I would have for the company is to try to put together a more detailed version of the installation that is easily understandable by someone like me who has never done this before. That's the target audience for someone buying this on Amazon. All of that being said, here are some notes from my install that might help others:1. I followed the rough video instructions to get everything opened up and I also had to rely on a third-party Youtube video because the video on Amazon moves too quickly and doesn't show enough detail.2. All of the connections/plugs that you have to remove to get everything out can be difficult. Some might pull out easily, others are very difficult. Many require you to pull or push on a plastic lip/lever to get them to unlock. Be wary of this if you haven't done it before like me. I was constantly afraid I would break a plastic clip by pulling too hard. Most of the time, I figured out I needed to push or pull on part of the clip (usually using a small screwdriver) to make it come loose.3. After the initial install, the unit powered up and CarPlay worked but the "Original Car" functions (radio, backup camera, etc.) just gave me a black screen. I unplugged and re-plugged the whole system, but couldn't get it to work so I reached out to tech support via the instructions on Amazon. After about a day delay, I was put in touch via text/WhatsApp with an engineer who ended up being fantastic. The problem with the "Original Car" functions was that the factory settings for "Car Model" had to be set to "NBT HIGH(8.8 and 10.25)". To get to this setting, I had to go to the Factory Settings option on the new screen and use the code "8866" to reach the right settings. Nowhere in the documentation is this code mentioned, so there would have been no way for me to fix this myself. Once the setting was changed, the original car functions were good to go immediately.4. The only other issue I had was the sound quality. I saw another comment mentioning sound quality being poor. It's likely that they had the same problem I did. What I experienced was very poor quality when using CarPlay. The original car radio sound was fine, but the CarPlay sound (anything played using CarPlay) would sound like a horrible EQ mix (for example, lead vocals were barely audible while bass and drums were OK). If not remedied, this would have made the unit unusable. It was not just an inconvenience. So, I reached out to the engineer again and got another quick resolution. The problem was that there was a pair of cables in the new unit's cable "bundle" that needed to be plugged together and were not. It was a set of male and female small black plugs labeled something like "for CIC units..." which had to be plugged together but were not. This is probably something that depends on which type of vehicle year you are installing for, so I assume it's not something that can be done from the factory side. But, once I plugged these two ports together, the sound issue was fixed immediately. All in all, it wasn't a quick plug and play process. The company could really use some better documentation and tutorial videos, but once you are able to resolve the problems the unit itself is great. Very high quality screen and functions exactly as advertised. Good support as well if you are mechanically inclined.

Great product!
Very easy to install, performa really well and very responsive to the touch, a little bit expensive but worth it especially that it’s compatible with the OEM UI. Sounds great, and packaging was great as well. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because we had to change the settings to something that’s incorrect to get the OEM UI to work properly. According to the instructions, the car setup should not be the “BMW 3 8.8” for my 3 series but I had to keep trying several ones until I landed on this one which worked. It took a while to figure this out because it required a lot of trial and error and the screen you see in the picture is not easy to get to and requires a passcode (provided with the instructions). I would definitely recommend it but I wanted to highlight the above issue because what we selected for the car setup gave us a faulty display. The fix shown in the pictures worked like a charm. Hope this helps.

Great buy. Worth every penny
I don't usually leave any reviews but had to for this. Install was super easy. Unit responds perfectly to the touch. Android auto works flawlessly. I have 2014 BMW 428i and it fit perfectly. I feel like I have a new car. Would recommend to anyone.

Will last only as long as the warranty lasts and die!
The media could not be loaded. Bought on December 1 2023. Paid over $400. to install. Worked well for 1 year and 4 months and suddenly would not respond to touch on screen. Also skips by itself trom a function to another !Just 4 months after the factory warranty expired, so did the touchscreen and/or CarPlay functionality. Feel very disappointed. The factory screen was 7 years in use and is still working, but I have become accustomed to CarPlay. Will have to buy again ? And pay installation again ? I don't think so... Not this Brand again I Will Not !!!

Had this in my car for two years. Chicago winters and summers couldn’t take it out. Still going strong and an essential component to my car.
