Excellent and VERY flexible
First the reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars. It isn't as easy to access the menu as it says, but with a few simple steps you can. The instructions are VERY lacking as to the many ways this device can be used. Go to the web site and explore and keep the outside of the box. These tell you more about how it can be used than the instruction sheet. It;s NOT just a range extender. As a range extender it is EXCELLENT. A range Extender (Repeater) has to do 2 things well, 1) have a very sensitive receiver so that it can pick up the router's signal at the fringes of it's range, and 2) have a very powerful transmitter to reach back to the router from those same ranges. This has as much range as my high end Lnksys router both ways. At -85db I still get 100% throughput with line speed tests. Here's one little thing people wanting Wifi range extenders may not realize. This device (and most others like it) sets up a new network around where you put it that is identical to the router network in all but one way. It has the same SSID, security and Password, but a different MAC address. So if you move between the router's range and the extender's or back, there will be a period of time when you will have no connection and any data transmission either way that is in progress when you move between ranges will pause or drop depending on the function being performed in the portable device. This is because to your Wifi device, these are actually two different networks (but using the same SSID/password so you don't need different pairings) and it has to loose one before it can connect to the other. Depending on how fast YOUR device (not the extender) does this, you might lose connection for seconds to minutes when moving between the two ranges. Just how it works. So don't start a long download or streaming when you are going from range to range and expect it to be smooth.Setup. The instructions say that you will be able to sign on to the device almost automatically as soon as you hook it up. That the browser will find it by itself basically. NOT!!! But no big deal, you just plug the ethernet cable in between the extender and your computer FIRST then power the device. Wait about 30 seconds. Make sure your router is working, but disable your connection to it (turn off wifi or disconnect ethernet cable between them). This just prevents any possible addressing conflicts. Again your router has to be up and operating. Now open a browser and enter the ip address given and log in as instructed. Let it find and connect to your router network and save. That's it. Now it can be a range extender, gaming adapter or single device access point. It also has it's own WPS button so you don't have to go back to the router to enable WPS in the extender's range when adding a device. The instructions don't tell you this.BUT, if you want to change the configuration, I haven't found a way that works except to hold down the reset button to set the device back to factory defaults and start all over again. Not a big deal, but not what the instructions lead you to believe. That's it.

Great product until you need to make changes
I wish I loved this product. This review is very important IF YOU ARE NOT A COMPUTER GENIUS. If you are, I am sure you are laughing at me.I purchased this product because there are many good reviews on Amazon. Like I said, I AM NOT A COMPUTER GENIUS.Anyway, this is a pretty good product at first blush. However, if you need to make changes, either because you love the produce initially and/or are curious about other features, and you will blush again...in a negative way. When you first attempt to install you will be quickly guided to a GUI. I had to look it up. That means a Graphic User Interface. It's like Windows for your computer. It takes a whole bunch of computer language and makes it into icons so you just press, click, done.I was sooooo happy with the product because it did extend my range. I work in a big office so extending my internet from the port of origin (Modem, Router, Switch [all words learned within this week]) to the conference room is crucial. (Previously I actually bought netzero free internet to get a wifi type signal in the conference room -- guests were complaining).Anyway, I purchased a second one because I read online that if you buy two then you can extend it even further. NO PROBLEM, purchase I did.Once I got the second one to work I began thinking...How do I know if it really bounces one signal from my wireless modem to the first device then to the second device then to the conference room? That's a reasonable question from a non-geek.So I started to install the produce like I first got it. But guess what, it will not reinstall...Why is that important? Because in very smalllllll print, in the CD after five hours of stress it says this..."The WR300N Wireless N Repeater will only give an IP address to your PCupon initial installation. Once you have associated it with your WirelessRouter/AP, you will no longer have access to the device's web GUI. If youwish to change any settings on the WR300N, you need to set a Static IPaddress on your PC. Just remember to set it back to "Obtain and IP addressautomatically" after you are done."Granted there directions on for how to do it but it does not matter because you will never be able to get back to the user friendly screen called GUI. You will scream, yell, screw up your computer (like I did)...all in attempts to work this product...but it won't make any difference.I had no idea what an IP Address was until I got my computer to do it. (Still don't)The problem is not getting your computer to set a an IP Address. It is that they do not give you any further directions. This is 2012. I am not playing with a Commadore 64 (Yes, I am that old - is that how you spell it). I should think that a product that I have to pay $50.00 for should be easy to reconfigure. But of course not. People still make products like when we were learning DOS as a kid. And at the end you always have to put ",8 ,1" (Stupid joke for those that remember the old computers)Bottom Line, after 3 days, over 20 hours of excitment and disappointment here is my drop dead opinion:1. THIS IS AN AWESOME PRODUCT if you never ever want to touch it again after you initially set it up.2. I AM SURE THERE ARE MUCH BETTER USER FRIENDLY PRODUCTS out there for less or the same price.3. Again, I am not even a substandard tech wizard so I am sure this review is only good for someone that can walk, chew gum, and barely understand how to work Itunes and an IPAD.Muchas Gracias. I am out.

Tricky for Mac Users
If you use a Mac you'll need bootcamp or a virtual machine to boot into a windows machine to complete the setup. The instructions and CD are for windows users only. I tried the IP address anyways and it didn't pull up the configure screen. Once I booted into windows the CD booted up auto launching IE with the IP address and I was able to complete the process which was just a few clicks. It doesn't look as shiny as it does in the product shot but it works. Installed at the other end of the house and now I get full reception backyard to driveway.Product arrived in 3-4 business days.

Works as advertised
I needed to extend the range of our wireless router from the basement (they always seem to end up in the basement, don't they) to the second floor. This product did the trick.During setup I did need to review the router settings re: encryption type, but once I set it up and rebooted all PCs and smartphones things worked perfectly. It's important to reboot all PCs on the network so they recognize the network change. Also, I found with one laptop (IBM X60) that I needed to "forget" the old network and reconnect. Now we have excellent signal where we once had none!

This works great!
I had a tablet that would drop the wi-fi connection when I was in the farthest room from the wireless router and, problem solved! Simple one-time setup and after that, simply plug it into any power outlet and you get full strength rock solid connectivity.Would not hesitate recommending this product to others.

Works perfectly
I was having problems with my connection because my wireless router is in my basement and the device trying to connect was behind my tv on the second floor. Upon installing the extender, it made the connection quality excellent and multiplied the speed of the connection between the tv and the router 10 fold.Since then I have purchased this same device for clients of mine and it has worked flawlessly to extend the signal. I have used other "Diamond" products in the past with mixed experiences, but this one seems to be a winner so far.

It works to a certain point
So I bought this wifi-repeater since I couldn't get any signal from the wireless which was far away from my computer. The WR300N works. It connected and indeed extending the range of our wifi. However, it slowed down the connection tremendously and there was a lot of IP address conflict. Had a lot of trouble with this device. It was such a chore to get internet connection with this. So I will be opting for a High Gain Wireless adapter instead.
