This unit is exceptionally competent for my needs. I am measuring the variances in temperature from my windows and sills, to the storage freezer, to the outlet temps of my furnace, and even my cold feet at night. I always wondered what temp my cold feet were really so I could adjust my blankets accordingly. Yes, it worked fine. Oddly, I find myself checking the temps of all sorts of stuff, some things for fun, some things that matter like my fridge was actually four degrees colder than an old hanging thermometer indicated, which explained why sometimes my veggies got freeze damage. Dollars saved. You could even confirm the outlet temp of the hot water pipe after it runs for a moment. Another path to adjustment and potential savings. This is a solid. great performance unit with fast read times and easy to read display. I would certainly purchase this again.

I actually bought this as a gift and was around when he just used it to kind of goof around with (pointing it at walls and the body) and it seemed to work quite well. I'm tempted to purchase one for myself in the future for cooking. I am a little on the fence how I feel about the company contacting me, upon purchasing the product you're automatically enrolled onto an email list where they send you "Helpful" tips and FAQ's but it was several times a week and I don't like being automatically opted in to such things, they do cease if you reply with unsubscribe. I also received a phone call (technically two, the first call was just white noise and a baby crying - weird) where someone contacts you to see how you're liking the product, and when I told them it was given as a gift so I couldn't really comment on it, there was basically and awkward silence followed up by "so, you would say you're satisfied then?" Part of me likes that they care enough about their customers to follow up and ask, but a bit of me likes to just be left alone.

This IR temp gun worked fine for the first 4 months. However, after that the temperature has been all over the place. It is so inaccurate now, that I can no longer rely in it. I recently had a reading that was approximately 50 degrees Fahrenheit higher than what three (3) other thermometers read. That's right, I tripled checked the temp gun before posting this review. Unfortunately I don't have a recommended alternative for anyone at this time. I regret spending $24.98 on this item but I guess you get what you pay for.

Not very sturdy. Very bright. Holds a good charge. Easy to operate, Just as easy to break.

I received my unit shortly after ordering it and used it almost immediately, looking for cold spots around my windows where I was suspecting air leaks or poor insulation. With the unit, I was able to quickly identify several spots for closer examination which I will do once the weather warms up. I have also used it to measure the cooking temperature of the oil in frying and sautee pans prior to use. I was also lucky enough to borrow a calibrated professional thermal sensor to compare readings and without exception, the Predator measured within 2 degrees of the professional unit which cost about ten times the price. An excellent performer for the price. Works well with cats, too.

I got this temperature gun for my husband as a birthday present. He uses it for cooking and absolutely loves it. The temperatures seem to be spot on too. He tells me it also has other uses but he will only be using it in the kitchen. It is easy to use and very comfortable in the hand. It does everything we want it to and is compact enough for easy storage when not in use.

This is a great product. I bought it for my kitchen and use it primarily for my gas range to determine temperature of pans, and griddle. I have found that the temperature with two readings in the exact same spot can produce two different temperatures that can be off by 10-15 degrees. I am not sure if this is should be expected, but I do not think there should be that much variation. The only other thing that I think would have made this a better product is a design that allows it to sit in a upright position or come with a holster of some sort that I could just keep at the ready by my oven. Overall, I am happy with the product, it works closely enough for my cooking.

I read quite a few reviews. This one seemed the best for what I needed it for. It worked for one day. The next day, it would not stay on. I checked the 9 volt battery that was included with the Predator. It had a very low charge so I replaced it. The display lit up brighter, but when I moved the Predator around, it shut off again. Amazon refunded my money. I'm going to try one more. I hope it works. There is definitely a problem with the battery connection. I did try to snug up the battery terminals first, but the wires must have a bad connection inside the unit. The company would have a great product if they would fix this problem that I and a few other customers had.
