Soon to purchase my second pair!
I bought these shoes in spite of the rather poor reviews, and I am sooo glad! For me at least, they are not just extremely comfortable, but have held up under almost daily wear on some very tough terrain. For those who have spent little time in Hawaii, once you get off the sidewalks and asphalt (which I do a lot!) you are on lava rock, which basically amounts to walking or running on very large grit sandpaper. These shoes have stood up quite well, as have my other Merrells, glove running shoes. My dog just chewed off one of the elastic bands and although I have spent nearly four hours now, trying to find a cheaper pair to replace them (I like them so much that I am going to repair them for around the house, but they'll never look the same 😞), but after extensive searching, I can't find anything I like even almost as well. I don't know why others have been so hard on them, maybe I lucked out with the first pair and I'll write to amend this review in a month or so, but I'm investing in my second pair even so. Although this time, they are staying up out of reach of my dog!!🌋

Great, classy barefoot flat
These shoes are perfect for a casual or (relaxed) dressy occasion. The flats are very light weight and do not take up much space in a suitcase or other bag. I have used them for a business trip abroad as well as secondary shoes for when I wear heels. In both instances they were easy to transport and looked professional enough for the occasion. The only potential issue could be the lack of cushion. As these are barefoot style shoes I was not expecting any. I have used liner nylons with some gel cushion when wearing these and standing for long periods of time. I have found that my form walking has improved as these shoes remind you not to stomp, you will feel it if you do!The uppers are a sort of suede-ish material that can get scuffed but can also be rubbed clean again. The elastic bands fit comfortably (I have high arches and this is sometimes a major issue for me but not with these shoes).I really enjoy these shoes and look forward to continue using them frequently.

Not a good replacement for the Wonder Glove
I bought these because my Merrill Wonder Gloves (which I loved, loved, loved!) fell apart after 9 months. Glue came off where the Vibram soles attached to the shoe and some of the stitching has pulled out. Merrill doesn't make the Wonder Gloves anymore, and while I could've found a third party seller to buy them from, I was in a hurry and bought these because I could get them quickly via Amazon Prime (the big Z doesn't have them either, anymore). Like the Wonder Gloves, these have glue lines around the sole. When spending $100 on shoes, they should NOT have defects like this, yet Merrills continually do! :( I can live with that, though, I lived with that on the Wonder Gloves. These fit more snug (I bought an 8.5 in both, the Wonder Gloves were perfect) and caused a blister and itchy feet after just a few hours of wearing (the Wonder Gloves, which surprised me, caused nary a blister). I actually took them off for this review, then put them back on, and my feet started itching again! Really weird, I never had that problem with the Wonder Gloves, I don't know if they're being treated with something different to anti-microbialize or what. The front of the toes in these are suede, not shiny leather with the cool blue embroidery like the Wonders, and they look worn and dirty right out of the box. Wore them to the mall and they're already scuffed. They also have little tear-drop-shaped holes in the front, which are kind of Minnie Mouseish. Where the Wonder Glove had a single leather strap that laid gently over the top of your feet, barely touching, these have elastic - the elastic digs into my foot leaving marks...your mileage may vary, but I never realized I had "foot fat" before I bought these shoes. Itchy, fat sausage feet. Not a good look.Anyway, I am Wishing I had been patient and just bought some Wonders. If anyone has been through this, too, and has found a good alternative (a comfy barefoot shoe that can go seamlessly from hiking to fancy dinners), please leave a comment for me - will be indebted!

Love the color
I bought this shoe in 9.5 (the size I usually wear in Merrell's) but they were a little short. I exchanged them for size 10 and now they are a tad too long. But, I'll probably keep them because this color will go with so many things in my closet. And, the more I walk in them, the more they mold to my feet. I do agree with other reviewers that the Merrell sizes are erratic and very undependable. That's a big problem when you're buying online. It makes me wonder if these Merrell's sold via AMZN are "seconds."I have a narrow foot so there is nothing tight about the fit of these shoes. Unlike some other reviewers I don't feel the straps - they just lay on my skin. I suppose women with wider feet will find these shoes snug and the straps might cut into the top of their feet. I just hope these don't stretch over time b/c they won't stay on if so. There is also NO support. I feel like I'm barefoot when I wear them.I bought the shoes on July 17 in "blushing" (a soft maroon color) and paid $71.79. As I write this review, the price is $69.99!!

Lovely shoes, poor fit, uncomfortable design
I'm very sad about these shoes. They are adorable, exactly my style, low-profile, flexible...and made so they just do not fit my feet. They are too short and, while I could try ordering a larger size, they have a structural aspect that makes them rub: The three pieces (front/toe box, side/rear, and strap) come together on the side right at the front of my arch and, because they meet at a place where they touch my foot, the thickness rubs and feels off. I really wish these felt good, as they're exactly what I was looking for, look great, and are adorable...but the fit and the thickness of that portion just makes them uncomfortable. I'm sad to have to return them.
