The calipers are placed between the muscle and the fat which allows a total body fat percentage to be obtained. How to use the Comed electronic skinfold caliper - Close the jaws, and then press the zero button to set the device to zero – The point of measurement to use is level with the stomach (approx. 2.5 cm above the right ilium) - Whilst standing, firmly pinch the suprailium between the thumb and index finger of your left hand. Place the jaws of the digital adipometer on the skinfold, whilst continuing to hold the fold with your left hand – Tighten the jaws until you feel a slight pain. Then press the HOLD button to take the measurement. After you have read the measurement, press the HOLD button to continue. Repeat three times and the average of these measurements will be your result. Then refer to the body fat interpretation chart to determine your body fat percentage, and discover what the findings are.
