Keeps you guessing.
Decent British crime drama set in and around Manchester, with clever ' Who-dunnits' and a likeable cast, headed up by the versatile Caroline Quentin. A total of five series, with four to five episodes per series. Series 1-4 have an episode run time of 1 hour and 8 minutes each. In series five, each episode drops to 45 minutes. Very watchable, and my only criticism is that some episodes end very abruptly, after the big 'killer' reveal. The series five episodes, can seem a little rushed with their reduced run time. Overall, very good. Four stars.

Lovable characters with entertaining story lines. Light and entertaining BBC crime series.
Granted I'm only through the first series but I've seen the odd episode here and there on telly. Not your average crime/drama series. It's kept somewhat light hearted even though they are serious crimes. It's as much about the lead character's life as it is about the crimes she solves. Her team are lovable, she's lovable. The underlining love story keeps you coming back for more and the crime story lines are entertaining. Caroline Quentin does a brilliant job - what's not to like!

If the theme floats your boat then this is an outstanding example.
If the theme of Touch of Frost or Wycliffe are to your pleasure then Blue Murder is a very well acted and interesting (and fun, sometimes) watch. Perhaps a little too much of the family/human interaction - it could do with more of the policing side of things - but those scenes fit in quite nicely. They provide an outlet, a release, of the dramatic tensions of the 'hunt'. Oh.. and YES, Artur is RIGHT - you don't deal with bullies with time-out rooms and reading the school code... you belt them one. (Watch the series, you'll know what I talking about). If the theme does not work for you, this set will not change your mind. These DVD's are for people who already like this theme. For those of you who do like the drama-cop stories, this is a worthwhile purchase. Very entertaining. ** check your discs - my first set had cracked discs (around the centre hole). Amazon replaced without any problems. **
