IBS us NOT "One-Size-Fits-ALL". You are UNIQUE!
Probably the best book I have read about IBS because it is written by someone who has been there and learned what you need to know. I think that most gastroenterologists take this condition too lightly and treat as though it is "one-size-fits-all". The truth is that IBS can be caused by many conditions and intolerances and you need to find out what YOUR triggers are before you can decide what might work for you. This author takes you through a self-exploration of IBS, and lets you know what basic tests should be done to rule out such things as SIBO (Small intestine bacterial overgrowth) and other things that are involved in your own particular and unique condition. This book has HELPED me where so many other things have not. I highly recommend it.

My very own comprehensive guide to healing IBS!
A little about myself - I struggled with digestion issues for many years. Gas, bloating, random food sensitivities, itchiness, etc. I ended up working with a functional medicine practitioner over a couple years. Through certain testing, supplementation, and dietary changes I was able to eventually learn about how my body worked enough to know what I needed to do if I wanted the symptoms to reduce. There was a lot of trial and error that I went through with the guidance of my doctor to figure out what worked best. The reason I mention my story is while I was reading through the chapters of this book. I remembered the testing that my functional medicine doctor had me try, the questions that she was asking me during the whole process, the types of supplements that she was putting me on, etc. This book is by no means a replacement for a functional medicine practitioner. But it is a great guide in the process to healing, and working with our bodies to find out what it's telling us, and why. When I saw that the author's recommendations for testing for certain things was very similar to how my functional medicine doctor treated me. I knew this book was the real deal. This book is not for somebody looking for a quick fix. Conventional medicine offers that, but those are bandaids, and there is commonly a price for going down that path. Many of us learned that lesson the hard way. If you're struggling with bloating, excessive gas, fatigue, brain fog, new food allergies, etc? It might be time to consider this book. Add it to your arsenal of knowledge in getting to know your body.I appreciate the author for writing this book, and it is my greatest thought that it will find many of those that absolutely need some guidance in the right direction. This book covers all of your bases, and lays it all out with logic, which I love so much.

So many things to love about this book!
Amanda has provided a thoughtfully organized, well-written, easy-to-understand guide for understanding the mechanisms by which IBS develops and a roadmap for healing from it. Her Iterative Action Method makes this a truly bioindividual journey for each reader, which is where other "one-size-fits-all" protocols drop the ball. I especially love the attention to other factors affecting digestion, such as sleep, stress/trauma, and the simple act of chewing our food (among others)! As a clinician, I plan to recommend this book as a companion guide to my work with clients, as it will serve as both an educational tool and a blueprint for our work together. I have already purchased copies for family members who needed a light after years in the dark place of suffering. This is not a quick-fix protocol, which is why it is so valuable. However, those seeking that type of book should look elsewhere. For those who are motivated to do the investigation and implement changes for lasting relief and healing, this is absolutely the book for you! Highly recommend!

A lot of repetitiveness
I just finished the book, and Personally it seemed to have said the same things I’ve been trying. In a nutshell, keep a food diary and track what is creating the problem. I did learn quite a bit about other diseases linked with IBS.

An Excellent Holistic Healthcare Practitioner
I attended the course taught by Amanda on which most of this book is based and I want to emphatically state that she is one of the most knowledgeable Holistic Healthcare Practitioners I have ever met. She gives the most insightful advice and communicates it with the greatest ease and simplicity. You never get the feeling she is trying to sell you anything, but is rather working to give you the best, unvarnished advice that would work to help you in getting to the root of your issue.I see that same level of dedication, care and focus in the pages of the book I have read through. I cannot recommend Amanda's expertise enough in whatever medium she is using to disseminate her knowledge. She is simply excellent! As an aside, she helped me resolve a major health issue I was having with one of the simplest techniques anyone has ever offered me and for which I will be forever grateful.
