Excellent magnets for build DIY tool racks
Over time I have been building up tool racks in my workshop, using strong magnets to support metal tools without having to create notched slots in wood. Magnets provide a secure and effective way to hold tools without the need of complicated rack designs.I have used this group of 8 bar magnets from Magnet pro as part of my tool storage and as you will see from my photos, they provide a simple and easy way to hold items such as screwdrivers, pliers, hole punches and anything with ferrous metal content. These neodymium magnets are powerful and can hold heavy item securely, even in the horizontal placement, as in my photos. They do hold a stronger weight if used vertically, but for my usage they are perfect for the majority of small hand tools. The magnets are epoxy coated to resist rust and corrosion and the kit comes equiped with stainless steel screws for holding in place on wooded surfaces. IT should be noted that these magnets are powerful and one has to avoid them snapping together to avoid skin pinching, plus they can also break if mishandled. These types of magnetic tool racks are sold all in one piece as dedicated accessories, but I prefer to build my own, as I can make them the right size and length and separate the magnets as I wish. IT's also a cheaper option. Recommended!

three magnets in pack were broken
These magnets are very strong, however, three of mine were broken at the screw holes. screws are very small for strong magnets but two magnets are managing to hold my slatted gate against the trellis fencing no problem.

Very Strong Magnets With A Versatile Range Of DIY Uses
I am using the Magnetpro Pack of 8 Rectangular Magnets as a mount for a large magnetic backed fridge whiteboard, but in the bedroom. To explain, we had no place for a projector screen in the bedroom but do have a projector – so I have mounted the magnets as an array inside the wardrobe doors that act as a hidden base for the whiteboard to sit against on the outside of the doors. Surprisingly – or perhaps not as these are strong magnets – it works a treat, the magnets are hidden when the doors are closed and the whiteboard can be attached when we want it over the doors and removed when not in use! These are very strong magnets and I could see multiple uses for them around the house in DIY situations, to hold on a temporary or permanent basis. For goodness sake though do not lose the shims or you will definitely struggle to [part them - even by the sliding technique, and be careful near other devices like speakers etc that have magnets of their own – and also TV/ monitors that can be affected.

Hard but not impossible to separate due to the stong magnetic force.
The 'Magnetpro Pack of 8 Rectangular Magnets 80 LBS Force' arrived in a plastic storage container, also inside were instructions and screws. The magnets are separated in the storage box by plastic shims. It is probably best to remove the magnets screws and instructions before you start. If you have never used magnets like these before read the instructions.Don't place the magnets near anything a strong magnetic field can affect. When you separate the magnet, it is a good idea to keep them at least 30mm apart, otherwise there is a risk they could pull together and you have to separate again, but without the aid of the plastic shim. The maximum weight each magnet can hold is probably achieved when the magnet is attached above, rather than to the side of the object you want it to hold, and it must be in full contact with a flat surface.Unfortunately I completed the project I wanted these for before they arrived, so no longer have the means to fully test them.

Look at the requirements of the task, then go up a size if possible.
They are adequate for the job I had in mind.

These are not even remotely usable.
These are not fit for purpose. Even if you slide them carefully as per instruction. They break! The screw holes are too close to the edge and they snap in half. Trying to get them apart to start with is nigh on impossible. Expensive rubbish. Don’t waste your money or time.

Now THAT'S a magnet!
I built a bunker to hold our recycling but the pressure from the bags of plastic and cardboard kept pushing it open; both the kitchen cupboard "clip" and magnet types of catch weren't strong enough. These magnets are a different story! To the extent that they even come with a health warning - if you swallow them they could kill you. They are very, very powerful, and will permanently damage mechanical watches and erase magnetic storage media. You have been warned! These are not toys and I would keep them away from children. They have no problem holding shut the bunker door - picture to follow soon - and I can already think of many other uses for them, for example tool storage. Each comes with two countersunk holes for screws, making usage easy.Very happy.
