Killer Girlfriend: The Jodi Arias Story

Killer Girlfriend
I watched the trial from beginning to end and I blogged about it as well. I was expecting a short but accurate retelling of the Arias/Alexander story since the writers both work for the The Associated Press and are highly experienced as both a reporter and editor.I was disappointed.I do believe that they tried to capture the essence of this horrendous murder but by releasing the book so quickly, they didn't portray a fully accurate picture of the sequence of events. They tended to jump around and repeat themselves much like Jodi did during her 18 days on the witness stand. At times I was confused about things that I had actually witnessed myself.I am waiting for a longer more thorough book about the people and events that made up this fascinating case and the obvious behavior of a sociopathic personality. Thus far, no one has fully captured a true picture of either Travis or Jodi and their personalities remain a puzzle in many aspects. This book proves that the first one out of the gate is not necessarily the winner. I look forward to Shanna Hogan's version ("Picture Perfect"), because she is taking the time needed to write a book about a case as complex as this one.

See Jodi Kill. Kill, Jodi, Kill
I confess to not following the Arias trial when it was prime-time news. There is only so much high-profile crime a person can absorb -- I was still detoxing from Casey Anthony and trying to understand the Amanda Knox saga in Italy when the Arias case was tried. So when I looked for a basic overview of the case, this slender volume caught my eye. I read it without joy. There is little redeeming about the book. The authors are professional journalists, so they know how to right in clear, direct prose. But they never really warmed to the story they were telling. Even when they had the chance to shed light on interesting characters, such as the attack-dog tactics of the lead prosecutor in this case, they didn't. And the authors repeat over and over again that the case was loaded with kinky sex, but deliver declarative duds when describing the sparks that flew between Arias and her now dead lover. Reading this book about an emotional trial was like reading a fourth-grade primer on procreation -- everything is in the right place, but it just doesn't shake, rattle and roll. The book served its purpose. But it was published too soon. In the great rush to hit the market first, the book was published before the verdict in the penalty phase was rendered. Why the rush? I would have loved a little insight. What I read was a too quick account of a trial shorn of the sort of human content that makes trial a drama, rather than a series of events strung together with quotes from rock 'n roll artists and authors.

Like a Coles Notes of the Crime
This book gave a brief over-view concerning the killing of Travis Alexander by Jodi Arias. It did not go into a great deal of depth regarding her background, previous relationships, the trial or the crime itself. If a person is unfamiliar with the incident and wants to understand what happened, this is a quick and easy read.

RUSH TO PUBLISH FIRST = SKIMPY, UNINFORMATIVE BOOK
I'm sorry to say this book was a total disappointment to me and not worth it's price. I felt the authors only skimmed the surface and were way more interested in getting their version out FIRST. If you saw the trial or even the Lifetime movie, you received FAR MORE INFORMATION than is in this book. I would call this book nothing more than a synopsis of this tragic & gruesome crime. If I may opine ... These authors were much more interested in producing Quote: the first definitive & comprehensive (NOT) account to be published on the entire case. UnquoteAMAZON, of course has nothing to do with the content & as usual delivered my copy well packed and IN A FLASH.

An accurate account, as I remembered watching on live coverage. good, but I also wish...
I was brought back to those days while i watched the trial, with this good book. However, I was looking for any relevant news that I might have missed, even though I pretty much watched the trial from beginning to end, and aside from that, i watched shows debating what would happen, and I wish this book would have posed the questions of why anything could get so awful that the murder, or any killing would occur. I wanted to figure out what could be going on in Jodi's mind to push her to do things as she did! And I wished to make clocks go backwards, so the killing would never have happened, because for one thing it was a senseless killing, and two lives obviously lost, and counting, since it affected so many! All those family and friends on both sides have been crushed in all this! Yes, this book brought back the feelings I had while watching the trial, and it seemed to take presidency until the last phase happens, anyway. Good read! Thanks!

Waste of time - missing half the story
Very disappointing. I was expecting a comprehensive account of not only the crime itself but of the events leading up to it, the life of Jodi Arias, and what perhaps compelled her to do what she did. I got NADA. The books starts out AFTER the crime, and covers only her arrest and trial. I kept thinking (and hoping) that perhaps the author would eventually backtrack during the trial and reveal events earlier in her life and leading up to the crime. There wasn't even a description of the crime itself! It's as if the author told the story 3/4 of the way into the story. Where's the rest of the story??? Total waste of time. Don't bother with this book. There are several more books on the topic being released shortly, and I'm sure they cover the ENTIRE STORY. This author was just plain LAZY. I want a refund!!!

Jodie
I live in AZ and watched the news every morning and evening to see what went on. This is not a real long book and a lot of the information I already knew but there were a few things I didn't. I didn't know anything about Travis' background. It wasn't expensive so if you don't want every detail, this is a good book to read.

Badly written
Considering the authors are meant to be journalists, this is so badly written I'd have to question their professional writing abilities. I'd suggest that if you're interested in this case, try and find another book about it to read and don't bother with this one.

My Book
This book contains very useful information although it is not a long book I got it yesterday and I was done just within hours after I got it through the mail. I find it rather contradicting when it comes to putting this book beside Jane Velez-Mitchel's book in the sense that in her book she says a five bedroom house he owned yet in this book it says 4 bedrooms. Pretty much you can see the flaws when reading this book and Jane's. I would say that Jane's book is far better than this one because not only does it include pictures of his family and friends but it also includes pictures of Jodi and more explicit content. It really basically says word for word of the trial rather with this book it kind of beats around the bush. This book is really good for those who had recently discovered Jodi but otherwise it's good to go with the "collection" of the rest of Jodi's books.

nothing in this book that hadn't been uncovered by the mass media already--waste of time and money
Poorly written--probably just taken from a reporter's journal--would not even donate it to the library--10th grader could have written it.

Engineered for reader's not acquainted with the Jodi Arias murder trial
Good read for those who are just getting up to speed with the murder trial of Jodi Ann Arias. The books works best as an appetizer for Jane Velez Mitchell's book Exposed: The Secret Life of Jodi Arias.Overall a passable read, but nothing to write home about.
