Before buying this electric blanket I did a lot of research. Originally I was going to buy a more expensive blanket which had zoned areas and more heat settings. Then I read the reviews for these types of blankets and found that often, after about 14 months, one of the zones would stop working. Also I noticed that with the zones there was an area down the middle not covered. I wanted the whole of the bed to be warm and as this product is less than a third of the price of a zoned blanket decided to give it a try. It arrived quickly and was well packaged. It has very good tapes which go under the mattress for securing to the bed. (It has not moved out of place). The product is well made and looks as if it will last. It is a very generous size and covers from just under the pillow area to right down to the end of the bed. (Note: If you order I suggest keeping to the size of your bed. I ordered a king size for my double bed thinking it would come up small and found it hangs over the sides by a couple of inches so it definitely is for a king size width). The control is sturdy and easy to use. It is also at the head end which is handy and does not encroach on the area of my pillows. The first night I put the blanket on the mattress I just had a sheet on top but when lying on it could feel the cable. This is the only down side to the product. I put two thin fleece blankets and a sheet on top and this solved the problem without loss of warmth. I have been using the blanket now for several months and am very pleased with it's performance. I put it on 20 minutes before going to bed and it is lovely and warm. I have used the setting which allows it to remain on all night and am amazed. On this setting it is a constant gentle warmth which feels very low and I thought would not be warm enough but amazingly it is. I have found I normally have to turn it off in the night as I am too warm! I would definitely buy this product again.

This fitted easily on my deep mattress which made making up the bed easy. The duel control allows either one or both sides of the bed to be heated to different temperatures which means both people in the bed are happy.

*NEW UPDATE AT THE BOTTOM - READ IF YOURS ISN'T WARM ENOUGH!*As a person who always has cold feet and hands, and a very cold hermit hermit in general, this is a great product for winter nights and even better when paired with an Alexa plug so that you can “preheat” it before getting into bed. My only complaint is that it does not get VERY warm.I was gifted this back in 2018 and after a good 3 years it gave up on me. Facing really cold winters, I decided to buy a new replacement… which unfortunately does not get as warm as the previous one! I remember feeling LEGIT toasty with the old version on setting 2 after I left it turned on for 30~ minutes, but with this new one I just feel a slightly warmth when I get into bed even after leaving it to preheat for 1 hour on setting 3.I was really surprised at the difference in heat and slightly disappointed since I really liked how warm it let me get.Also, it doesn’t seem to cost that much, it seems to cost 2-3p per hour based on my (not-so-smart) meter.If you are looking for something to warm you up, this is a good start!*UPDATE*Okay guys, I was a bit of a silly billy. I made one FATAL mistake when I put this under my top sheet! It's super important that you place it the right way. Now, you may ask, "what is the right way?". When I initially installed this, I put it with the plug at the end of my feet. It's really important to put the plug coming out from the top of the sheet - it is a bit annoying because then there is a hard bit of plastic right next to your face, but hey ho. This is because I guess that since it's the closest to the heating element, that side heats up the fastest; when I installed it wrong, my feet would be very warm (whoop) but not so much my upper body. Having now swapped it, I notice a big difference between the two!To be honest, I still think that it's less hot than the 2018 version which is why I left my review at 4 stars, but placing this the right way definitely improved the overall warmth, so I definitely recommend that you swap the sides if you installed it as I previously had!

Bought this for a present and thought I’d test out the settings before giving it away. Left it on the max setting for 5 mins and the temperature hasn’t changed at all. Wouldn’t recommend this to anyone

Bought at the right time

There are many issues. As others have said, it is very short, but for me that is not a problem. It is made of polyester which is presumably water impermeable and, even under the mattress protector and with the heating off (ie never been on), it makes me uncomfortably hot and sweaty. So it is consigned to a cupboard. The tapes, which I assume go around the mattress are all too short - they are marginally short side to side but top to bottom, the tape barely reaches half way down the bed. It is not clear if there is a right/wrong side up - ie are the connections on top. If they are, then for our set up, the cable does not reach the socket. (looking from the bottom of the bed, and the connections on the top, the cable comes from the top left, or bottom right - in neither case can it reach the socket. Finally, the actual power connection to the blanket is very chunky. If the blanket has the power connection towards the top of the bed, I find my self lying on it - not very comfortable. I have to position the blanket with the power connection right at the edge of the bed, and only then do I not lie on it at some stage during the night.
