Works great! great go-to hand-saw in the shop
If you are new to Japanese style saws you are in for a treat. so much easier to do accurate cuts than the western "push" style handsaws, and a far far thinner kerf. This is my quick go-to saw for anything needing a hand-saw. Good for cutting off things flush as well as the saw is very flexible. They last a long time but eventually you may need to replace the blade if someone hits nails or screws frequently. They are made to be quickly replaced by loosening a screw and sliding it off. These blades are good quality long lasting hardened steel and NOT resharpenable. made to be replaced.

Really good and cost effective general purpose handsaw.
I really like this saw. I have yet to see a western saw in the same price range that cuts as good as this one. It has a nice reflective surface so it's easy to line up the board edge with its reflection for a perfect 90 degree cut. The thin blade let's it cut with less effort and it doesnt bind unless you forget that that it's a pull saw.

Great value
Very good saw. I decided on this over a traditional Western push saw because of the rip/cross option. I ordered the one with the spare blade, just in case.It cuts well, though luckily I already know the difference between the saws, as the instructions and all of the characters on the saw are in Japanese. Make sure your workpiece is clamped/viced to a stable structure. My first attempt on a wobly sawhorse was not as pleasant or accurate as in a vice on the bench.

Make sure you get the right blades.
I bought this saw before and wore out the blade. I ordered a replacement blade a while ago and it came smaller then the original. So I ordered this one to get the bigger size again and it was the small blade again. I recieced the 3” wide instead of the 4” wide (small one is labeled 650 while the bigger is 610 which is the description). The 3” is less rigid and flexes a lot easier making it a lot tougher for normal use. Will be returning as they are not as functional.

Exceeded my expectations by a mile.
Wow. This saw exceeded my expectations in every way. The finish on the cut surface is just stunning. I haven't reached for my "western" style saws at all since buying this saw. Just buy one (or two). You won't regret it for a moment. $50 for an amazing saw with an extra replacement blade is a heck of a deal.

Great little saw
Title says it all. It can do cross cuts and rip cuts with ease. First time using a Japanese saw and I love it the handle is great.

Takes patience cutting.
Blade is too thin. Flimsily cuts. Maybe I’m doing it wrong.

Rips through hardwoods
Nice, fast cutting saw. Leaves a polished edge when cross-cutting hardwoods.
