MONDAYZero Alcohol Rum – A Non-Alcoholic Spirit with Low Sugar, 5 Calories, Vegan and Gluten Free - 750ml

While the flavor is not 100% rum it is close enough that after a few days it's not apparent. The cost is a little steep but no worse than a midline alcohol Rum so I can live with it. If you need to cut back on your alcohol consumption this is worth a shot.

Using this for a drink at my coffee shop.Went through first 2 bottles no issue, though they were bought from a local retailer.Ordered a bottle from Amazon and it smells god awful and has strange gunk growing on the inner rim. Gross.

The presentation of this faux rum promises you a journey to a new destination with just enough familiarity to encourage the trip. The copy on the art deco bottle boasts “the sweet scents of sugar cane, tropical fruit, and fresh tobacco leaf combined with flavors of burnt caramel, banana, butter pecan, and oaky vanilla, with hints of roasted coffee, and mocha” if you want to know the highlights of your ticket’s destination.When opened, the blend is spicy (flavorful) with a hint of spice (heat). Rolling the beverage in a glass releases scents of caramel and vanilla sweetness first with a definite tobacco flower and smoke layered on top. Lifting glass to lip reveals the flavor of the caramel and vanilla, along with a nutty butter pecan, all roasted together and smoky with tobacco. The oak and smoke taste dominates all, and a hit of heat punctuates the end.The viscosity of this beverage isn’t thick like alcohol, and feels thin like water in the mouth. It’s the sensation of sitting with an old fashioned till the ice finally melts and the thin shadow of whisky is left behind. The flavor is still there; you get the feeling you’ve been nursing this glass all evening.I can not think of a single rum this directly replaces; it seems designed to be its own sipper especially due to the dominance of smoke. Much like that ostentatious pair of shoes that “don’t go with anything” mean that they actually “go with absolutely everything” this faux rum seems destined to stand out in classic rum cocktails, making it’s own mark on the world. Spiced rums weren’t a thing during the prohibition or even the tiki cocktail eras, but try it in a mock Hemingway Daiquiri or a mock Mai Tai, or just sip it in a glass with one large ice sphere or some of those whisky stones. It certainly doesn’t need to be diluted. After all, part of a cocktail is the ritual, the careful crafting, the favorite glass, the sitting down after a long day. None of those things have changed, and you may find this still hits that spot. Happy mocktailing!

You won't get that familiar alcohol burn when you drink it straight. I find it has very little rum flavor alone. But if you mix it in mixed drinks, the rum flavor comes through. Just don’t expect that familiar alcohol burn.If you want to present the appearance of drinking shots but without alcohol, the appearance will pass. The bottle is nice with a plastic cork type closure. The color is the color of rum. It comes with a recipe card with suggestions and recipes for several mixed drinks.I would recommend this non alcoholic rum as a mixer. Upon tasting it, I’ve concluded it’s not really meant to drink by itself. I mixed it with carbonated calamansi (Phillipine lime) sparkling water, added a splash of pomegranate grenadine syrup and it was wonderful without the alcohol after effects. It truly tasted like a rum drink but without the alcohol! Isn't this drink pretty?

Ok, here's the thing; I really tried my best to give this a good shot. I think having non alcoholic drinks available for people is awesome. So although I realize that it would be impossible for a non alcoholic rum to taste just like real rum.....I was hoping this would at least have a "close" to the real thing kind of taste.The bottle looks great, presents well, and gives the look of a real bottle of rum. And, the taste is pretty good flavor wise. But, nothing about it makes me honestly think it tastes like the alcohol rum. I mixed it with my diet cola, like I have always drank rum, (at the rare times I have drank it). And it does add an interesting extra flavor to the cola. To me I would describe it as a pleasant caramel type flavor, minus most of the sweetness of caramel. But it lacks that note of a fiery bite that alcohol brings with it.So, my final thought is that Monday non alcoholic rum looks great, comes in a beautiful bottle, taste pretty good, probably won't really satisfy anyone's desire for something that tastes like rum.

The taste is ok. Didn’t expect it to be perfect but made a ‘Rum’ and Coke that I will drink again. Smells nothing like Rum and I am going to test what might improve that. So average is a fair assessment.

Our friends told us about Monday zero alcohol drinks when they did dry January, but I am just recently exploring alcohol free spirits. This tastes like run, but thinner, less of a complex taste. We tried sipping it and it definitely met our needs, although it’s not tricking anyone - which isn’t the point anyways, right? :)Made a rum old fashioned - pretty on par with what my husband would expect. Going to try a Monday daquiri - I have high hopes!Packaging and the inserts are fantastic! A lot of thought really went into the presentation here - it feels like the process of having an alcoholic drink. MakesReally glad to see the zero alcohol options from Monday. I look forward to trying the whiskey.
