Description says 20ft high reach, but then says 5-12 ft extension pole. can someone explain the math to me??? how high does it reach?

You have about 6 feet without the extension. Then when you add the extension, it adds the 5 to 12 feet to that to reach high places, so you end up with 18-to-20-foot reach.

Is the extender heavy to hold?

No it is not that heavy , i will say it is around 5 lbs . give or take.

What size are the threads on the pole?

I would say they are not big or small. Very easy to put on the pole and take off.
