Dear Artist: A Love Letter

Indescribably Beautiful
Have you ever read anything by Dr. Jaiya John? Be prepared to have your heart steeped in an indescribable Love. I am *only* nine pages in as a I pause to write this review and tears have been streaming down my face since I opened this book. It started with the “Acknowledgment and Dedication” page; you know the preface page that one usually hurriedly rushes through or skips altogether? Well, I actually read it and wasn’t prepared to be swept up so quickly in the currents of Love and taken into the depths of my heart. One day I imagine myself buying a plethora of Dr. Jaiya Johns books and gifting them to unexpected people in unexpected places….Coffee shops, waiting rooms, a stranger in passing. The world needs Dr. Jaiya John. I am so grateful for the Love that pours through his sacred art✨~Alesha~

Soul food for my heart
This is a book that I have already started gifting to all my creative friends. The first few pages are so nourishing and I find myself underlining certain lines or earmarking certain pages. Jaiya John has a gift of speaking straight to the heart, airing out fears and holding the reader tenderly through the highs and lows of the creative journey.

You are always creating; therefore, you are an artist.
I like to open this book randomly to a page and my soul is always fed by the words that I read. Jaiya shares heart based messages that moves me back to my center, back to my breath, and deeply connected to my emotions and soul. I am always surprised by how I respond. I am learning confidence in my self as an artist. I feel such hope.Page .87. - An Artist is flowering, even in dormancy. A perpetual gathering of seeds.

A poetically nutrient-dense treasure of a book
This is one of my favorite books of Jaiya John. If you have not read Jaiya's poetry, be prepared to be radically moved. I have shared poems from this book with loved ones, in men's groups and communities, and with people I work with, and they have consistently brought people to tears. Profound poetry, like Rumi's and Hafiz's for instance, will tend to do that. And so does Jaiya's writing (and speaking).
