It's not telescope it's got a long arm and a blade that you can bend to alter to trim the tops of hedges. I'm 72, and I found although it's easy to use, but after a while it got heavy for me to keep holding, but it does do a good job. Hope this helps.

What thickness of branch will it cui

Personally I find it's more to do with the toughness of the branch rather than its thickness. In general though I wouldn't use it on much more than one centimetre but I think it claims to do much more. Not as powerful as mains electric types but very good for light trimming and well engineered.
