Use on Medium Pile Carpet Questionable
Firstly, this pad did not arrive rolled up in a box as others have described their delivery. It was simply folded in half with cardboard protecting both sides of the pad. However, the cardboard was in sad shape upon arrival with the edges of the pad exposed in many places. It is a wonder that the pad suffered no damage during transport. This different method of shipping makes this buyer wonder if the pad has been redesigned lately. On the plus side, the beveled edge is very helpful. Also, the pleats that were impressed into the pad by folding were easily removed by laying the pad for several hours in the sun on a 90 deg day.The pad is definitely made of a soft material and I question its suitability for carpets of medium thickness like mine. My deskchair weighs only 40 lbs and has 5 wheels. Yet, by itself with no occupant, it depresses the pad noticeably under the wheels. Adding my weight of 150 lbs to that, naturally, increases the amount of depression. After a week's observation, though, I can say the depressions do seem to disappear rather than accumulate. The plastic material is far less stiff than the previous pad I had and takes more effort to roll the chair. For my weight, the effort to roll it after sitting in one place for awhile is simply a nuisance rather than being excessive. I would not be surprised, though, if the amount of sinking-in for a heavier occupant, will make the effort of moving the chair unacceptable on medium pile carpet. My stiffer older pad needed replacement after 5 years use due to severe cracking. It remains to be seen if this one will develop cracks in the same way.Review update after six months' use:I have to say I am 100% pleased with my purchase at this point. Depressions in the pad really do disappear on their own and do not accumulate. There are no cracks; the pad still looks great. I have raised my rating to 5 stars.

Took awhile to flatten
I got this in February, and it must have been rolled up for a long time. I just put it in the office last night. That's a little over 3 months to get it flat. At first I had a couple of recliners on it and then moved to concrete blocks. We'll see how well it does now that it's in the office.

Lasted almost a year... but I abused it pretty good
I ordered this in February 2020, measured the carpet pile by the suggested paperclip method. It started cracking in October. By December it was losing chunks - particularly the nubs on the bottom breaking loose for me to step on, and some bigger bits as well.I will probably buy this again, since the mat effectively only cost me $6 per month, but I'm still not thrilled with its performance. I am giving it a decent 4 star review though because I suspect it has endured more abuse than it was designed for: I weigh over 300lbs, and due to Covid have been rolling around on it for about 10 hours a day, 7 days a week for about 10 months.

Good heavy mat
I'd had 2 mats crack and fail on a berber carper with underlay. I am hoping this one will work well given it's spec on how thick of a carpet it can handle. It usually takes 1.5 years to tell. It does "give" underneath the chair, and even a light folding table, so I'm not sure how it will hold up.It came rolled up. You really do need 2 people to unroll it as it is hard to do as the plastic at room temperature has a pretty hefty tension to return to the shipped rolled up form. Needed a heater going around the mat with lots of heavy things for quite a while to get it to flatten, but now that it's done it is fine.Removing the label is hard, and it leaves glue behind. Eventually I could see the leftover glue from removing the labels (in pieces), and got it off easily with isopropyl alcohol.

Works well on top of medium thickness carpet and easy to roll chair on and off edge
The mat is really tough, and the clear material is great because it doesn't stand out from the carpeting underneath. I needed to convert part of my home office into a microscopy lab and needed a hard surface in case I drop part of a specimen or spill a reagent. The microscope table has a couple hundred pounds of equipment on it, and there is no sign of sagging or cracking. My chair rolls easily over the edge. In short, it's perfect.

Check your carpet, good seller.
Our carpet was on the upper limit of this mat's capability so it was no surprise that when we got it we were not convinced it would not crack so we issued a return.Despite Covid issues they were great at getting it returned (such a big item causes complications). However whoever they chose for pickup wasn't very good and they had to come by twice because we didn't know who they were or what they were there for.

Time will tell.
It came in earlier than expected. Looks okay. Seems a little thin compared to the multiple ones I have had and used for many years.Awaiting for time to pass to see how durable it is.

Medium Pile? Nope...
Ordered this based on this description: Frequent Use Chair Mat Medium Pile Carpet. It arrived in a flat-pack, which I thought was a good sign, however...the mat is in no way rigid or firm enough to use with a standard office chair on medium-pile carpet. It might be brilliant on low-pile, but I have to rate it based on the description and use it was purchased for.Looks like a return is in order.
