TENEALAY HiFi RCA Passive Preamp Stereo Audio Preamplifier with Volume Control, A/B Audio Switch selector FV2

I needed something to switch between sending my tuner signal to my stereo for serious listening or to my fm transmitter to listen throughout the house. This worked perfectly and has no signal degradation I can hear at all. Just turn the volume control all the way up to not attenuate the signal at all. I opened it up because I have to and the build quality looks very nice and straightforward to me.

It’s built solid..all metal, and had a relatively low price and, I hadn’t planned on using the second input “B” switch, I found that , let’s say you want silence for a phone call, just switch to the “ B” setting, and it works as an off switch, instead of turning the volume knob down, then back up after the phone call, and, its passive- no electrical cord

I bought this when upgrading to a DAC that didn't have a volume control, paired with an Emotiva A2L+ 2-channel amplifier, also without volume. This Tenealay is a passive amplifier so won't increase gain further, simply attenuate it, whch is fine since most sources (including mine) output sufficient voltage. The benefit to it being passive component is that it won't color the sound. The unit is solidly built, and the swich between sources works well. It's heavy, and looks good on my desk. My only concern is that turning the last 40 degrees or so, it's a bit grating, like a rake over cement. It worked just fine, but since this is the control I use most on my stereo rig, it has to be pleasant to use. Out of fairness, it was fine for small changes. It was only when making big volume changes on the upper end that I noticed it.

Solid built and not a joke. This is something that should last .Works great for my purpose.

Wanted to run a single RCA out from my DAC into the Tenealay and split the signal into two RCA outputs (one RCA input into my Aiyima A07 amp and another RCA input into a Saiyin soundbar via an RCA male to 3.5mm input). Then use the A/B toggle selector on the Tenealay to switch back and forth between the Aiyima amp for when I want to relax and listen to my cd collection or to the soundbar for casual tv listening. Took a chance on the Tenealay preamp because my configuration of running one input into the Tenealay then to two outputs is the OPPOSITE of what it is advertised to do (two RCA input, one RCA output). There is no mention of it being able to reverse the signal flow chain or bi directional. Well...I crossed my fingers and ordered the Tenealay preamp due to it being a passive design and just 22 dollars and change. The RCA output on the Tenealay was used as an input from my DAC. I hooked up two RCA cables into the Tenealay RCA dual inputs to use as outputs to my Aiyima amp and the Saiyin soundbar. People I want to tell you it works like a charm! I am now able to toggle between my amp and the soundbar. There is NO HUM or extracurricular noises like buzzes or hiss. Also there are no sound anomalies that I can audibly hear when listening to my favorite cd's. If you're looking for an inexpensive, simple and compact 1 RCA input 2 RCA output selector switch box the Tenealay FV2 is the ticket. People I hope this helps.

Perfect A/B RCA switch with incredible volume control / knob. Passive box, no power needed. Works perfectly. Packaged perfectly. Just what I was looking for.

I bought some bookshelf speakers (Magnat) that have the volume in the back. This (effectively) moves that knob to the front where it's much more useful. There's a few caveats to this setup though. It's not atru volume control, it simply lowers the maximum volume. That means you have to crank your speakers to a higher level and then use this to tune it back down. I say this because I noticed extra noise from the speakers because of it. It's definitely not a dealbreaker because 3 feet away, you can't hear the extra noise when it's quiet, and when it's loud, the quality is still good. The size is on the smaller side, but it's completely useable. It's aluminum housed so it doesn't look cheap. I set it up in two minutes. Invest in a good quality short RCA cable though (Amazon Basics is decent for the price).

Initial impressions were that it is smaller than expected and better looking, the pictures do not quite do it justice. The volume control has weight to it and feels the same as the RK27 alps pots I have in other equipment. The knob and case are aluminium and the whole unit is heavy enough that it does not move when you turn the knob, nor is it pulled by long cables. On connecting it I noticed that it has decent gold plated RCA plugs. On listening (ifi DAC, Adam active monitor speakers) I do not notice that it is there, which is how a passive pre amplifier should be. The channel matching is pretty good and it introduces no noise. If, like myself, you have active monitors which need a volume control (mine do, but on the back of each speaker, which isn't convenient) I fully recommend. It arrived early and well packaged.

This passive volume control is great as an attenuator between a DAC (with direct full signal output) and a preamp or a headphone amp. The output signal voltage from my DAC is very high. Preamps or headphone amps with a low sensitivity often get overwhelmed with the high output of my DAC. This volume control comes in nicely to suppress the DAC signal low enough to allow the preamp or headphone amp to flex their volume control in a decent operating range. As an avid audiophile, this device does not alter the sonic quality of the signal. Rather it tamed the DAC to let the preamp or headphone amp do their part correctly. My application of this device works well. There are many other possible configurations. Buyer should be aware that this is a passive device that only attenuates without any gain.

Es handelt sich um einen Lautstärkeregler mit 2 Eingängen, die wechselseitig ausgewählt werden können und mit einem Ausgang verbunden sind. So können 2 Geräte mit fixem Ausgangssignal z.B. ein Cd-Player und ein DVD-Player direkt mit einem Aktivlautsprecher oder einer Endstufe verbunden werden. Das Gerät ist recht klein und sehr gut verarbeitet. Ich kann es sehr empfehlen.

Piccolo preamplificatore passivo di buonissima fattura dal rapporto qualità/prezzo sbalorditivo. Lo uso da diverso tempo per regolare il volume di un finale valvolare di alto livello. Inoltre mi permette di selezionare due ingressi, nel mio caso un Superaudio-CD Marantz con un Giradischi Thorens. Il potensiometro Alps è una garanzia ed il selettore ingressi molto silenzioso.
