Right cable but did not work.
Sadly, I could don't get the cable to work. Not sure why. The conjured mechanism I had consisting of two separate adapters worked but I could not get this cable to work. The fact is I sent it back got a second cable and that did not work. I took the time to read some of their support documents online but for the time I was wasting, I kept the conjured mechanism. No harm no foul to the Cable folks ... when I plugged the cable it my new iMac and second monitor the screen kept reading no signal. Go figure.

4k@60hz on MacBook Requires Little Hack
If you plug this in, it will only reaches 4k@30hz. Ugh. However, if you open up System Preferences > Displays. Option-click on 'Scaled', and then check 'Show low resolution modes' it brings up a dropdown where you can change the refresh rate to 60hz. It just works!

don’t buy if you need it for more than 6 months
I bought this cable to make a connection between my MBP and my 4K LG monitor. Unfortunately, after 6 month, the cable constantly does not connect with the monitor. I use the original cable from the monitor now - which works fine suggesting that it is not the monitor or the connection at the monitor side. Therefore, it’s most likely the cable, which is poor quality if it breaks after only 6 months. So - better to spend your money on something else.
