Halo Holistic Ocean of Vegan, Dry Dog Food Bag, Adult Formula, 10-lb Bag

My dog loves the taste. It is the right softness and size for my 19 pound Chipit dog. It is a good quality food and I love that it is Vegan, so no animals have been tortured or harmed in any way just to feed my dog. This food has all that our dogs need. I mix it with two tablespoons of Halo's canned dog food just to please my dog. I also put a bit of this in with a can of Halo's canned dog food for my neighbor's dog five days each week and he loves it. I highly recommend Halo dog food, canned and dry.

We switched all four of our chihuahuas over to the Halo Holistic Plant-Based Recipe with Superfoods recently, and it’s been a smooth transition across the board. Two of them actually started on this formula when they were puppies, so it made sense to move the older two over as well once we saw how well it was working. One of our biggest concerns was whether our pickier eaters would accept it, but all four took to it immediately — no mixing with other foods, no hesitation at mealtime. The kibble is the perfect size for little mouths, and it has a fresh, natural smell that’s a lot more pleasant than other plant-based brands we’ve tried. Since switching, we’ve noticed steady energy levels, shiny coats, and no upset stomachs or digestive issues, which is always a win with small breeds. It’s still a little early to comment on the long-term benefits, but we’re very happy with how they’re doing so far. I also really appreciate the quality of the ingredients — real, whole foods and added superfoods without a lot of fillers or junk. Even the packaging is thoughtfully designed with a sturdy, resealable closure to keep everything fresh. So far, it’s been a great experience, and we feel good knowing we’re giving them a plant-based option that doesn’t compromise on nutrition.

We had used the ocean flavor before you changed the packaging and I don’t know if you’ve done away with the ocean flavor because I can’t find it on Amazon anymore and this one doesn’t actually have a flavor that I can see mentioned. But she loved the ocean flavor and liked a lot the non-ocean flavor. So I was worried of what kind of flavor this one was going to have and whether she would like it or not. She’s not a big kibble eater, she mainly gets her canned food for dinner and she’ll nibble a little bit when she first wakes up of the kibble but when I put this in her bowl mid-day, just to see whether she was gonna like it or not, I was very surprised that she took one sniff and immediately started chowing down! For me personally, I was impressed in the richer coloring. I also like that the bites are a little bit smaller because my Chihuahua only weighs 8 1/2 pounds and she’s a senior with teeth missing so small bites are very crucial to her being able to eat kibble. She didn’t have any trouble chewing it (I could hear it crunching), and she ate quite a bit for her. So I’m very pleased and will definitely continue to order this. I have it on the subscribe and save now. The only thing I’m not happy about, and I’m sure I’m not alone, is that now the bag is a 1/2 pound less than it used to be and the price is relatively the same if not a little bit more than the 4 pound bag of the ocean flavor. I know times are tough but I wish you would go back to the 4 pounds and keep it the same price. But it’s definitely a four-star vegan dog food! Because even the best is not good enough if they won’t eat it. 😉

My rescue dog had significant digestive issues when I first adopted him. I tried several different brands of dog food for sensitive stomachs and after several expensive vet visits a friend suggested I try a vegan diet. I purchased Halo vegan food and he hasn’t had any issues in over a year. I mix it with a little bite of Halo wet food and he is thriving. Coat is shiny and his eyes are bright. He has great energy and hasn’t had a single episode of diarrhea or vomiting since I switched to Halo food a little more than a year ago. What a relief.
