It looks like it was used. Parts had hand prints, case was dusty and pencils had scratches.

Although I knew the set came with two plumbs of 8 and 15oz, I was surprised by the weight of the kit when I received it. It looked solid and nicely built.The first use of the plumb set was for an outdoor installation. I could not use the magnetic feature of the string carrier, nor the nail because the work was on a bricked face. However, I found an anchoring point and just rolled the string to it and enjoyed of the great vertical line it provided.I think it is a very well built kit. I have a little bit of concern about the retractable line system. I hope it lasts. I just keep feeling a few sticking points when unrolling the string.The pouch itself is average. Not particularly nice looking or impressively built. I see the elastics already stretching a little with just a few months or use.

This is a nice plumb bob kit. It comes with two bobs which is nice. It is easy to use and has two attachment methods; a magnet for metal surfaces and a pin for drywall.My biggest concern is the pin only sticks out a quarter of an inch when locked in place. It extends 3/4 of an inch but when you release it to lock in place it retracts back to 1/4". The weight of the bob could easily pull it out of the wall so bear that in mind while using it.The string is connected to the bob with a round ring similar to what you see on a key ring. To change bobs you need to splint the ring with your fingernail and rotate it - just as you would to remove a key from a key ring. I will likely add a carabiner to the string so I can easily switch back and forth.The retractable string works great. The bobs have protective covers over the points which is very nice. My wife likes to use a plumb to center tables on light fixtures and such. The protective tip will protect the table and allow for a very precise placement.It is a sturdy kit and should last a lifetime. As an added bonus it includes 4 carpenter pencils and a sharpener which I did not have before. No more sharpening those pencils with a knife!

I had a plumb bob at one time but I lost it in a fire. This is a nice replacement. It comes in a nice little case and seems like a very nice tool.

It's a nice set. First one I have owned myself. Have seen one being used on one of my remodeling projects and thought it would be nice to have. The one concern I had when I opened the case was that the retractable reel was all plastic. Ok, so the Gammon reels are plastic too. But that the striker head for the point set is also plastic which seems counterintuitive for something that will be hit with a hammer. So not sure as to the durability of the reel.
