could not install. no directions

I bought a Donner kids drum set for my 18 month old, rhythmically advanced grandson. The drums are surprisingly good for little kids drums, but the bass drum pedal is terrible. I bought this pedal to replace the one that came with the kit. It seems to be a decent pedal (for the money), but there is one problem. The beater does not reach the drum head vertically. It hits the head on a downward arc. The clamp that holds it on the hoop is too long. I put one of my pedals on the bass drum and it was fine. I compared the clamps and saw that this one is about a half inch longer, which explains why I cańt get it closer to the drum head.
