As It Is in Heaven ( Så som i Himmelen ) [DVD]

This is one of the best films I have ever seen. It's a real pity it hasn't been widely circulated in Europe (and not at all in my country, Italy).Watching it is a spiritual journey. I was moved by the protagonist's quest to find and arouse the individual note in each person singing in his choir, and to compose a piece of music which would open the hearts. I know people who went back to the cinema for 8 nights in a row, when it opened in Germany, and it has become a cult movie in New Zealand and Australia.The cold Swedish landscape is a wonderful counterpoint to the heartwarming experience of watching damaged human beings bloom into ripeness through the healing power of love and singing.

I just got this DVD and it's been very worth watching (2wice through in 2 days) even though I stupidly got the one without subtitles so I've missed out on quite a bit of understanding in the long talking bits. I did find the words to that beautiful song on u-tube tho'.Fantastic!Possibly because of the language problem, it did make the whole thing quite a uniquely different film-watching experience,(not nec.a bad thing) but it really reached out to me about finding, expressing and being brave enough to live your truth...Would love to watch it again - this time understanding the words though.Maybe there's someone out there who can tell me how I might get hold of an English transcript of the script?!

To much to mention which may give too much away, but all aspects of life are on here - with much humour and also tragic issues.Could not recommend highly enough. Bears watching more than once without doubt.

What a fabulous,fantastic movie. I first came across this film on a visit to New Zealand, since then I have watched it many times and shown it to other people who have had the same reaction to it. I have bought copies as presents as well. It is so well made and shows so much about human strengths and frailties, I get goosebumps every time I hear Gabriella`s song. Love, love this movie, will never be without a copy. Don't be put off by the subtitles,they don`t matter or inhibit, it's worth getting past them.

This has got to be one of the best films ever. I was reluctant to watch it at first because of the sub-titles, but after a short while I forgot they were even there, the story was so spell-binding and so sensitively acted. I was introduced to it by friends and immediately went home to order it for myself. We have watched it again, and would happily watch for as many times as my family would permit. It will feature in my Christmas present giving.

A truly wonderful film that leaves almost anything from Hollywood dead in the water. Touching, heartfelt, very funny, brilliantly acted - this and Dersu Uzala are my all-time greatest foreign films. How it could have been nominated for so many awards and won nothing I do not know - and why haven't we seen Frida Hallgren in anything else? She was magical, as was Michael Nyqvist (who we have seen since such as the Larsson trilogy).

I saw this dvd at a friend's place in the summer. I enjoyed it so much that immediately after seeing it I wanted to see it again. Since then I have been meaning to get it to show my friends too. Now I have it and it is soooo good. It's a brilliant story charged with human emotions, fun and excitement. There is also a lot to be learnt from it. It is different and special.

This is one of the most heart-warming films we have ever seen. The concept that we all have our own special sound, and in a choir our former famous conductor helps this sound out. But the vicar is unimpressed and feels it is sinful, that God will not forgive them all. Then his wife points out that God does not have to forgive because he never judges in the first place. A wonderful tale of love and life; highly recommended.
