Tastes like a hard peanut
The texture is a little weird at first, kind of taste like a mix between a peanut and almonds. It's pretty good, low saturated fat and a good snack for people trying to cut back on unhealthy snacks.

A great healthy snack
If you’re looking for another nut to add as a snack, cannot recommend this more! This snack is minimal ingredients: it’s just the seed and the fruit. It did not spike my blood sugar making it a great snack for health conscious individuals. I keep a bag at work and in my car. The dehydrated fruit is a part of the seed and it’s very tasty, not too sweet. Would highly recommend!

Supports indigenous agriculture. Tastes like dried peas.
We wanted to like these because we read how their sale supports poor areas in the Amazon (the real one). The appearance and quality seem very good and they were fresh. Some may find that they taste like dried peas with the faintest hint of almond rather than the given description.

Surprisingly good..
My husband bought these on a whim so we could have a different type of healthy snack.. The taste of the nuts is slightly different and it did have to grow on me the first few times.. but now I love them.. the ones with the pulp have such a unique flavor as well.. just watch your teeth because the pulp can be tough especially if you don’t let it sit in your mouth for a second..

Fresh, excellent, esp. the peeled ones
I found the peeled nuts to be the best, excellent flavor and fresh. I've bought other brands and sometimes got nuts that weren't fresh, but these are. However, I found the flavor of the unpeeled ones (the description for the unpeeled is "roasted") to be fairly bitter, more bitter than other brands. So, five stars for the unpeeled ones, but not rating the unpeeled because I think it's a matter of taste, and the nuts do seem to be quite fresh.---Updated review: In the past, these have been excellent, but now I am not as satisfied. I've bought a couple of packages since the initial review and they arrived stale and rancid. When they are fresh, the peeled ones are so good, but when they arent' they aren't. The package I received today (Dec. 30, 2023) says "best until May 23 2024" so apparently they were packaged when they were already bad. Disappointed in the quality control.

So disappointed this time--
I have re-ordered the Baruing Baru nuts multiple times and enjoyed them. This particular order, however, the peeled version, has so disappointed me I don't think I'll take the chance to reorder again. They were not at all crunchy, had an 'off' taste to them and seemed stale - which they shouldn't be as the package has a Manufactured Date: May 23 23, Best Before: May 23 24. Unless the package seal was faulty?

Great with the pulp
This is the only brand of these I've found that include the pulp. I grind it all together, they are too hard on my teeth and dental work to eat whole. Ground up with the pulp, it comes out a bit cakey or clumpy. I imagine somebody with the right skills could do some interesting things baking with these. I just use them as a snack topping. The pulp adds a bit of sweetness, but the dried pulp is also fairly hard and seems to have a lot of fiber, so overall there may be a bit more natural sugar but presumably also more nutrients you get in the pulp that you don't get in the nut. Overall, the pulp adds a bit more flavor and fullness to the ground nut mixture compared to when I just use the nuts. I like it better with the pulp. Note that in the bag, the pulp seems to separate from the nuts into its own little chunks for the most part. The nuts are actually tree legumes and have a peanutty flavor. When combined with the pulp I'd say the peanut flavor is perhaps a bit less strong as compared to eating just the nuts by themselves, since the pulp adds a different dimension to it.

Great
I recently purchased Baruing Baru nuts from Amazon, and I must say, I am thoroughly impressed with the quality and taste of these nuts. As an avid nut enthusiast, I have tried various brands and types of nuts, but Baruing has managed to stand out in terms of both flavor and freshness. The first thing that caught my attention was the packaging. The nuts arrived in a sturdy, resealable bag that kept them well-protected during transit. This attention to detail ensured that the nuts remained fresh and crunchy, even after opening the pack multiple times. When it comes to taste, Baruing Baru nuts are in a league of their own. These nuts have a unique and distinct flavor profile that sets them apart from other nuts I've tried. They have a rich, buttery taste with a hint of sweetness, making them incredibly addictive. Each nut is perfectly roasted, enhancing their natural flavors without overpowering them.
