Satanic Upset.
Been waiting for a UK and preferably restored version if this film for ages.... Sadly no one seems to be bothering at the moment, so I took the plunge and bought the Spanish release version... You are able to play it in the original English version easily via your DVD set up routine.Picture quality isn't the best and on my player at least it's not the proper screen ration you have a thick black border around whole screen.Sound is very very grainy its like listening in a cellar sadly. But as this is the only region 2 DVD readily available at the moment I will just have to put up with it for now..... So come on Canal+ or somebody get this last Hammer Dracula film starring the late Christopher Lee cleaned up and released.

Fking hell - a good restored version at last!!
This review relates to The Premium Collection Blu-Ray edition, and the technical aspects of it only. For those of us that like / love this film, at last it is available on Blu-Ray!It's in full HD, in full screen 1.85:1 aspect ratio, and fully cleaned up (unless I missed a bit; I'm very fussy about the films being cleaned up!). No other previous DVD release comes close. One lil itty-bitty thing though - The Premium Collection is an HMV exclusive (proclaimed as such on the flyer within the Blu-Ray case) and buying them direct from HMV is cheaper.

Good film - Dire DVD to be avoided!
This is, without doubt, the worst DVD transfer of a Hammer film that I have ever seen. As an ardent fan of the genre, I purchased this copy as it was one of the few still required to complete my collection. So, on Saturday night, I slipped the disc into my player and settled down in eager anticipation; it wasn't long, however, before my heart began to sink at what appeared on the screen before me. From the outset, the picture quality was poor; it was grainy and the images blurred, very akin to a pirate copy. Even worse, a company advertising logo (Platinum disc management) lodged itself at the bottom right hand corner of the screen, not just over the opening credits, but at various stages throughout the film's duration. I don't know about you, but I object to paying £19.99 for a DVD only to see an inane logo pop up every 15 minutes to interrupt the flow and spoil my enjoyment of the film.Aside from the irritating logo and the poor quality graphics, the editing was abysmal with several critical scenes at the denouement being wildly jerky. By then, poor Michael Coles was having a bad enough time trying to rescue Joanna Lumley from Dracula, without the film editor giving him St Vitus Dance to contend with as well. Such sloppiness is inexcusable and I found this continuity fault incredibly distracting. The sound quality was also below par with the dialogue in a number of scenes sounding very muffled. All these faults combined to make viewing this film a chore rather than the pleasure it could have been, if the company concerned in producing the DVD had given a fig about their paying customers. So, if you are a dyed-in-the-wool hammer fan like me, do yourself a favour and don't touch this version with a barge pole. Hopefully, in the fullness of time, somebody else will release a decent transfer of this classic, latter day Hammer film, which it deserves.

Beginning of the end
The police investigate a series of murders that could be linked to Count Dracula. The final Hammer Horror film to star both Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee together and Lee's final performance as Dracula, this picks up a couple of years after Dracula AD 1972 left off with Van Helsing called in as a consultant to the police to investigate a series of murders. As with the last film you can see it all coming a mile away and is probably strictly for fans only but is good fun and worth watching just for Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. Watch for a young Joanna Lumley as Van Helsing's granddaughter, taking over the role from Stephanie Beacham. It's a mixture of cop and horror film.

This is quite possibly the worst produced DVD that I have ever bought
This is quite possibly the worst produced DVD that I have ever bought! It is 4:3 format, had a problem playing on 2 different TVs and my computer screen. The picture is unsharp (even in its 'correct' format) the sound is dreadful and not properly synchronised with lip movement. And naturally, no subtitles. It's a disgrace that discs like this come onto the market. There is no excuse!!The film itself was ok, but the Dracula franchise was running out of steam. I generally enjoy the "Hammer" films.Surely we can have a blu ray box set of all the Dracula films (including Brides of.....), correctly formatted and with subtitles (for the British Market)??
