What a classic
So the sven saw is a total classic. Its also kinda jenky but its great. Its a little quirky to put together with you having to remove a wing nut and kinda line the thing up just right but after doing it a couple times its no problem at all. I used it for the first time as soon as It was delivered. I took it into my backyard and limbed a tree. It cut a probably 1 1/2" limb in like maybe 4 strokes. No problem whatsoever. The blade is super aggressive and super sharp. My only complaint is they should give you a flanged wingnut because the base of the supplied wing nut is a little too small to hold things securely when its all folded up. I added a 1/4" washer behind the wing nut and its perfect now though I may still get a flanged wing nut. Overall I really like it. Could it be better? Yeah it could but its a solid proven classic design and cuts like crazy so id absolutely recommend.

Saw Forever
I titled this "saw forever" because these saws last forever. My 40+ year old son remembers winning his as a new Boy Scout. I can remember have one when I was younger but lost it over the last 50 years. The new one I just received is just as expected. Thanks

Inexpensive Camp Saw That Makes No Compromises!
Great lightweight backpacking saw! Works fine for my needs but compare it to other options to see what fits your needs best (i.e. Bahco Laplander, Sven Saw 21", Sawvivor 15", and Sawvivor 18").Build Quality: Build quality is great! The all aluminum construction is sturdy when put together. The rigidity of the saw comes from tightening the wingnut on the blade. You have to unscrew it and rescrew it to assemble the saw, so make sure that you don't lose the wingnut in the process!Ergonomics and Functionality: It's easy to saw with one hand on the handle under the wingnut. If you need additional leverage, you can grap the upper portion on the red part of the saw with your other hand. Sawing logs un to 4" is no problem. Larger logs (6"-8") can be done with this saw too, you will just need to move around the log to get through it since the aluminum frame will hit the log otherwise. The blade on this saw tears through dead trees in a heartbeat; just make sure not to forget the WD40.Carryability: Closed, the Sven Saw is 17" long and about an inch wide. at 15 ounces it's fairly lightweight. It's easy to ride inside a backpack or strapped to the side. They also make a 21" model which is bigger and heavier. Unless you need to do a lot of firewood processing for winter camping, I'd stick with the 17" for your wood processing needs.Bottom Line: Although I love this saw, I wish that I had spent the extra $10 to get the Sawvivor 15". The Sawvivor 15" packs up smaller and lighter than the Sven Saw 15" while still retaining top notch build quality. I'm actually thinking about selling my Sven Saw and getting a Sawvivor... the old saying "Buy nice or but twice" really is true.

Great little saw
This is a great little saw. I wanted the larger model but it was not available at the time. So far it has only been used around the house for pruning and clean up work on downed limbs. As of this date it has never let me down. I like it so much I made this leather case with strap (pictured) to keep and carry it in. The little pouch on the front is to keep spare wing nuts in. As so many expressed fear of loosing the one that came with the saw. So it has to be a great saw for me to go to all that trouble.

Great saw, excellent convenience, watch the edges.
This saw arrived and it does exactly what it's intended to. It folds up and locks away easily and quickly. It is easily opened and set up for use. This saw does have edges that you should be mindful of when packing in your backpack for hiking. The ends of the tubes are not razor sharp, per se, but they are fairly sharp enough to possibly cut backpack fabric after a long hike or several hikes. However, I haven't seen any tearing from mine yet as I keep it wrapped in a spare nylon tent stake sleeve to avoid any issues. If it cuts anything, it'll be the sleeve first, at which point I can replace that for a dollar or so and keep my pack free of any damage, if it's even possible. Again, I haven't given it a chance to get to that point. The teeth of this saw are extremely sharp upon arrival and it cuts through wood with ease. It makes me wonder why I ever brought a hatchet on these hikes to begin with. Perhaps if I were hiking for a week or more I might want a hatchet, but then again, I can't really think of any instances where having my hatchet was better than having this saw. I usually end up with a stack of firewood at campsites at the Red River Gorge and am able to leave half of my wood for the next hiker because it was so easy to collect and cut with this saw!

Compact
Huge box it came in for such a compact saw. Set up was good wish it was more like a spring set up but should be a good help for hiking and still getting to saw bigger branches.

Good saw!
An upgrade from my trusted Bahco Laplander.Been using the Bahco for years, but after a multi-day canoe trip last year, where the weather turned south on us for a few days in a row, and we needed more firewood than usual, I realized that I probably needed "more saw"!The Sven fits the bill very nicely.Cuts smooth and sure, with way less effort than the Bahco.I'll still pack the Bahco when ounces count, but in the canoe, weight isn't as much of an issue, (it weighs about 5oz more, not much, but ounces=pounds, and pounds=pain when hiking). The Sven folds down to a very manageable size, and can rip through logs up to about 6" with no problems. If you are able to rotate the log, it'll handle even bigger!Very happy with my purchase. The only downside I have found, is that due to the aluminum handle construction, it can be a bit cold to the touch and slippery when ones hands are wet. I solved this by adding some Wilson tennis racket grip tape to the handle. Works like a charm.

LOVE this saw
It's a great design, folding to protect from cuts, while still being large enough to cut through a good sized tree limb. It's light too so easy to bring camping.

Best 20$ spent in a long time...
Most places I saw this 15" saw going for around 55-60$... picked it up here for 20$, brand spanking new with a little bonus, extra wing nut and leather lanyard to keep secure with the saw. Picked up 2 extra blades at 12$, each from MEC, and for the "regular" price, I've got a sweet set that will last me a long while.Already owned the 21" Sven Saw, and been using it for around 10 years now, keep it in my Jeep with my Swedish Hultafors axe and Jeep Shovel for all camp purposes. Now got me a nice lightweight (15 oz) and easily stowable one in my hiking pack.Get one, you won't regret it.
