Scriveiner Classic Silver Chrome Fountain Pen – A Journey from Disappointment to Delight
My experience with the Scriveiner Classic Silver Chrome fountain pen started off on a disappointing note but quickly turned into one of the best customer service encounters I’ve ever had. When I first received the pen, I was disheartened to find that the nib was not seated correctly. This resulted in excessive ink flow, hard starts, and frequent skipping—frustrating issues that no one expects from a premium writing instrument. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the tines were slightly separated, making me wonder if I had received a returned item. Additionally, it wrote more like a medium, though I purchased and expected a extra fine nib. However, this initial letdown was swiftly resolved by Scriveiner’s outstanding customer service. They were incredibly responsive and thorough, quickly arranging for a replacement. The new pen arrived promptly, and this time, it was perfect. The extra fine nib wrote exactly as it should—finer than even my Pilot pens—and has since become my go-to everyday carry (EDC) pen.Beyond its performance, the Scriveiner Classic Silver Chrome is a stunningly designed pen. It feels solid and well-balanced in hand. The chrome and gold finish exudes a refined elegance. I love love love the finial design. One of the standout features is the converter—it’s the best I’ve used, providing a smooth and reliable ink flow. Additionally, there’s a beautiful and satisfying sound and feel when you cap the pen. It’s a small but joyful detail that enhances the experience of using this exquisite pen. I'm impressed by the meticulous craftsmanship that went into creating this pen.Perhaps one of the most impressive moments came after I had to set the pen aside for a few days due to illness. When I picked it up again, it wrote immediately, as if I had just used it seconds ago—something many fountain pens struggle with.Despite the rocky start, this pen has won me over completely. The combination of exquisite design, top-tier performance, and Scriveiner’s exceptional customer service makes it a worthy addition to any collection. If you’re looking for a reliable, stylish, and well-crafted fountain pen, this one is an excellent choice.

Great pen, great service.
Got my pen with the two initial ink cartridges broken in shipping. Reached out and asked if I could get a replacement. They sent a full ink cartridge refill order! I was not expecting that. Additionally they were quick to respond to my email, and very kind in their response. On top of that, the pen works great. I have been using it a ton and really love the feel of it, how it writes and the weight of it in my hand. The ink flows very well, clean writing every time.

A real work of art
This is a beautiful fountain pen that is well built and writes smoothly. The pen simply glides across the paper. The ink neither feathers nor bleeds and dries quickly. The ink flows well from the nib and there is absolutely zero skipping. It would make an ideal gift.

Pen is light. Cap is heavy and does not post. Looks Pretty and Writes Smooth
So the pen without the cap is 17 grams (with an included small ink refill) and the cap alone is 15 grams, which means if you are going to write for a bit then you won't want to post the cap, and then the pen is a little too short for my hand. Less than 5 inches tip to back. They must have anticipated that you won't be posting the cap because, while it snaps onto the front of the pen with a satisfying click, it really just rests on the back and falls off easily. So plan on writing with a short pen and just hold on to the cap. Then, of course, the pen body feels hollow and less premium. The nib seems great. I got the medium point. It is as wide as I would go, but it's perfectly smooth and satisfying on thicker paper. My only other fountain pen is a Lamy safari and that one feels much better to write with for longer periods. Posted or unposted, the weight is evenly distributed throughout. That one is a 9 g plastic pen without the cap and a 7 g plastic cap for comparison. The weight is distributed nicely with or without the cap, and the cap actually stays posted. Though, it definitely doesn't look as fancy. All in all, I think it's an okay value at the $48 I payed. I'll use it, and it looks nice on my desk. But I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. Based on all the rave reviews I expected it to feel a little more balanced and a little more premium. It feels like a Chinese knockoff of something really nice. Incidentally, it does say: Designed in England / Made in China on the box, so I guess it isn't hiding that. There are a lot of fountain pen options out there and this one is just okay. If it doesn't need to be pretty, and you want something to just enjoy the writing experience with, go with a Lamy Safari.Update: One week later... I love this thing. Everything I said above holds true, and yet somehow this is always the pen I reach for first. It's beautiful and it writes well. The short length doesn't bother me as much as it did initially, and the medium nib that seemed slightly too wide for me at first now just feels right. I'm upping my review from 4 to 5 stars. Scriveiner, what have you done to me?

Very good writing experience and great customer service
I am a regular user of fountain pens and have experience with several reputed fountain pen brands. I initially bought this pen with not so high expectation but now it has become a part of my daily use. The thing I like about this pen is that it is not too wet (I use the fine nib) and yet have ease of writing. It is a great pen for the value. I even went on to buy a second one.I also appreciate their customer service. The complimentary cartridges were missing in the second order and they were very prompt to send me a box of cartridges after I informed them.

Customer service is great; the second pen is good
Writes like a dream; better than a lot of named brand pens at their lower end price points. Must say customer service is excellent. The first one I received had defects in workmanship. But Catherine was super helpful, and sent me a replacement which is excellent. I would recommend this brand.
