Massive Shower of Sparks
Properly scraped with the accompanying tool, it releases a massive shower of sparks. The scraper also works on other ferrocerium rods. This particular rod is pretty heavy. I bought the rod and tool more or less for my own entertainment, and I have not been dissapointed. Given the weight, though, I doubt that most hikers would opt to carry something this heavy when a butane lighter or a few waterproof matches will do the same job.
