I do love this little grow light and I plan to get more for my plants. However, I originally bought it for an aquarium like advertised. You don't want to use this light on an aquarium. It will grow algae. I will use it for my plants.

Update: After 2 months no algae at all. I run it at 9-12/day and have seen no algae at all in my sea monkey habitats. Might be good for house plants though. Dropping a star since they market it that way. For the price it’s not bad but…. The stand is, well how can I put it nicely. It’s a joke. The base it threaded but the telescoping pole has a pointed end. There is no threaded part to to screw into the base. They give you a rubber cup to stick in the base to keep the pole (somewhat) upright but the fit is awful. I’ll probably epoxy it and call it good. It’s not very stable at all. If you need to stick it in a substrate, and not use the base, then other than possible corrosion, it should be great. The base has no feet so it sits on the front (top of the T) nicely, but the back it sitting on the metal screw. I’d be afraid it would scratch the surface it’s sitting on. I have some stick on rubber feet, so easily solved. The light is nice and bright (for what it is designed for) and has a good choice of adjustment for brightness, as well as a few color choices. The light does however get quite warm at its higher brightness. They should have designed a series of vents to help dissipate the heat. I’ll probably very carefully drill a series of small holes in the cover to do just that. Over all for the money it’s not bad, but just take into mind the negatives. I’d still buy it again. The price with a few (hopefully) minor modifications make it worth while to me. Time will tell. Am I comfortable leaving it on at its highest brightness unattended as is? Probably not. That’s my biggest concern. High output LEDs get warm, but being unsure of the construction I’ll be dialing it down until I can address the heat issue.

Need a small light with limited spacing for my sons fish tank. Originally I told him that he could not have any plants in his tank because I was not going to put a light on there that would be able to put out enough to grow plants but this actually serves as a grow light and it’s very small slides right underneath the tank. We have not set up the tank yet so I don’t have the pictures for that but when I do, I will come back here and upload it, but this light will work perfectly fine as well as giving us the moonlight effect to. We are going to use a small round tank as shown here. Great price! Oh comes with the cube!!! But, no instructions at all on the setup!

Not the light fixture itself, it's okay. Putting it together was a little puzzling but I got there. But was I disappointed once I arrived. Soon as I turned it on I could tell these people had never kept a fish or live plant or anything like it. They made the light a choice of blue or red or blue and red together. None of these choices are going to keep a living thing alive. And both colours together turns everything in the bowl the most god-awful colour you can imagine. I had to check with a flashlight to make sure I hadn't somehow accidentally COOKED all the live plants in the bowl--turned them all the most sickly olive drab--I was sure they were all dead! Nope, it was just a really, really ugly light. It's in the landfill now and now I'm feeling all guilty for having needlessly contributed to *that* mess. Thanks a lot whoever dreamed up this gem. Next time do a little more research into the purpose of the light you're making. Aquarium lights are highly specialised. Lights for growing plants are too. I had the same issue last year with the so-called plant-grow light I got from China. Not all 'purple light' is a 'plant-gro-light.'

This light is way too small - maybe good for a tiny houseplant but not ideal for even a small 2 gallon tank.

I have this over a 2 gallon jar with neon tetras and Anubias plants. I love this light..!! I love the timer. Highly recommend for fish bowls or aquariums..!!

This is a nice grow light for indoor plants. I actually use mine over a small "pico" reef jar, which is basically a saltwater aquarium in a jar. It keeps the Macro Algae and xenias happy!! Timer function is nice- But like most of these lights,it doesnt restart after a power outage.
