Best/most reasonable NSF 42/53 filter I could find
UPDATE: I had my original filter and I am on my 2nd replacement filter. The 1st 2 I used for about 6-7 months before changing. No issues at all and I will stick with this filter for the foreseeable future. Can be a little tough to get the cartridge out when replacing the cartridge and a little water might spill, but not too big of a deal I was looking for a reasonably priced water filter that was certified for more than just NSF/ANSI 42 (for chlorine). I also needed one that did not require a separate faucet. To be clear, this is NOT NSF certified, it is certified by IAPMO to meet NSF standards. This still seems to be a meaningful/reliable certification, but is cheaper for a company to do it this way instead of paying the NSF a ton of money. This filter is also certified to meet NSF 53 and 401 standards. I checked with the company about the plastic hoses they supply with the filter since plastic can leech chemicals (most filters I see use stainless steel). The company replied within a couple of hours and said that it is polyethylene that is tested by the NSF and tested against EPA requirements and approved for food contact. So I guess that’s good enough for me. The installation wasn’t bad. As others stated, the directions aren’t the best but no real issues for me. Make sure the blue hoses are pressed into the filter housing as much as you can. I initially had problems with it leaking but it stopped once I pushed the hoses in more. I didn't use any Teflon plumbers tape on the connections. This filter is certified for 1651 gallons. This was the most I found for a comparable filter/price. (A lot fewer gallons than most NSF 42 only filters) I haven’t ran any testing on my water so hopefully it’s doing what it says. So far so good though, I’ll update if there are any significant changes.

Highly recommended if you want a hard-to-find NSF 401/53/42 kitchen sink filter
Rare NSF 401/53/42 drinking water faucet filter. Vast majority are not NSF 401/53/42 certified. My installation taps into the kitchen sink cold water supply, then filters that water to supply a special drinking water faucet. Both the filter and its dedicated faucet were very easy to install. No leaks at all. On general principles, I added 5-cent each blue locking clips to the push-to-connect fittings. Due to a complex kitchen sink plumbing environment, I connected the filter's blue 3/8" tubing to a braided 3/8" compression supply line, the other 3/8" compression end connecting to the cold water supply valve. For my ease, I also (optionally) inserted a small 3/8" plastic valve. See the uploaded images. Excellent in all respects. Highly recommended if you want a hard-to-find NSF 401/53/42 kitchen sink filter. No leaks at all. No taste. No smell. Clear water. Excellent value.

Breaks down..lasted less then 5 months..leaks
Was very happy with the clean water taste. But disappointed that the product did not hold up. Did not get a chance to order a replacement filter. Very disappointed. Cannot reach seller and Amazon wanted to know why I waited so long to return it. Well...it just happened today that we got back from vacation and it was leaking. We cam home to a mess of water under our sink. Water coming out of the filter system top part. 12-26-23

Pretty decent NSF certified filtration system with good flow
System is quite good and is NSF certified for 401,53 and 42. I had to go pick up some fittings to connect it to my water dispenser but no leaks and it's been almost 3 months now. So so far so good. The water taste is quite decent and the flow is quite strong. Quite happy with it. The replacement filters cost almost as much as the system though.

Easy installation - great taste
I haven't tested the water with this, but it tastes great and has great flow. It was easy to install and reasonable price. Note to company- it was impossible to find this product using Amazon's search. I had to find it using an external AI search tool using search criteria for NSF standards and enter the name in the Amazon search.

Finally a quick-change filter with serious filtration ability.
I wanted to upgrade our standard undersink filter from a typical CTO (chlorine, taste, and odor) filter to something more robust that would also handle things like PFAS and lead. These filters are certified to meet NSF/ ANSI standards 42, 53 and 401, which is hard to find in one filter that also uses the quick-change sanitary cartridge format, which was important to me. I like that there are two filtration levels to choose from: standard and premium. While they are a bit more expensive, you're paying for that extra filtration. Installation was easy, especially since we were replacing one that also used 3/8" PEX tubing for its supply and output lines. There have been no leaks since installation and no issues with water flow. Of course, the cold water flow (filtered) is a bit less than the hot water flow (unfiltered), but not enough to be annoying. You can still fill a cup in a couple of seconds. It's much better than some of the filters that provide their own separate countertop spigot; those can have a much slower flow and take longer to fill a cup or pot. This one does not suffer from that issue. I've had this installed for a little over 2 months and hope to get 6 months out of the cartridge since it costs $50 for the premium filtration. I believe that filter is rated for about 1500 gallons, which should yield about 6 months in our house. The water does taste clean with no flavor or chlorine odor, which our unfiltered water has suffered from in the past, although not horribly. I would definitely recommend this if you're looking for a quick-change filter that has very high-level filtering capability. Most others are simple taste and odor filters. If you really want to ensure that water is being filtered of things like PFAS, VOCs, and microplastics, you'll need something more than the typical $15 water filter. This is it.
