Fit Fine, Works Fine
I replaced the original gauge on one of my American Pressure canners after it failed. The new one popped right on, works perfectly, and the canner has processed many batches since.

Works great
It works as it should. Keep in mind that the weighted gauge is what you are supposed to use and the pressure guide is only a guide. No instructions were included.

Saved my canning life!
After 10 years of using my All American canner, I noticed that the last batch never came up to temperature. I had to throw out a whole batch of spaghetti sauce with meat, because nobody wants botulism. :( After some research, I narrowed it down to the gauge, because the canner still vents properly and the jars all sealed, but I just couldn't trust them. Changed out the gauge in about 2 minutes, which was super easy, did the water test, and it is testing properly. I am back in business!

All American Canners and Model Numbers
If you are a pressure canning enthusiast and own an All American Pressure Canner, you might be pleased to learn this: older models can use the parts manufactured by All American just the same as the new ones do. Replacement parts are interchangeable. Know your model number before ordering. I have two older canners, Model #925's. Newer models are labeled as 1930's, etc. Happy to learn this. Especially as it pertains to safety. On that note, check your rubber overpressure buttons. They will, over time, disintegrate! You will need to replace them periodically. Last thing- old 925's can be upgraded with new regulators (removing the older "petcock" steam valves). Nice to know.

Fits. Easy to install.
It fits and is easy to install. Not super accurate, but at least in not stuck in one position like the old one!

Good as Gauges Go-
I purchased this gauge as a backup--I own two AA canners. I suppose it does a fairly good job, though the two canners I've got, both less than 2 years old, register different pressures on their gauges. Fortunately, All American switched a couple of years ago from just the traditional flip petcock on the other side of the lid to a weighted gauge for 5, 10 and 15 pounds, rather like their old Mirro cookers/canners had. This weighted gauge is much more reliable than these geared gauges, and in fact, AA says in the owners manuals now that we should follow the indications of the weighted gauge. I can say that a real drawback of these is that they're not waterproofed in any way. Water/steam can easily get under the glass on the gauge, particularly when cleaning the lid. While it hasn't caused either of my gauges to quit on my canners in dozes of uses, I can't help but think that it couldn't be good for the mechanism, either. I just bought an older AA canner on EBay with an older gauge and will probably use this newer one to replace it. And no, my county extension service doesn't do these conveniently any more. However, I do love my AA canners so this is really no drawback now; just a holdout from the old days for people like me at sea level.
