Just buy it
If you’re reading reviews on an outdoor trashcan, let me just save you some time and tell you to buy it. It’s worth it and it’s easy to put together. My husband refuses to look at directions and put this together quickly. To be clear, it came with instructions, but he chose not to use them. The trashcan is beautiful and functional.

SUNCAST Trash Receptacle GREAT BUY!!
Delivered in less than 24 hours! Very Easy to put together! Great Price ! Solid, not flimsy, trash receptacle..... It has a solid bottom and I feel like should you need to, you could put a weight in the bottom to keep it from tipping over ( brick, rock, bag of sand). And the lid locks snugly! Very Attractive addition to patio, and holds 30 gallon bags! This one was for my patio, but I found it attractive enough to buy another for my kitchen area.

Nice sturdy container for mail deliveries
Purchased this 'trash bin' to put in front of our house to be used for a delivery drop off box. Similar plastic bins sold for this purchased are twice the cost, but from what I could tell, not much different than this one. Assembly went pretty smoothly, took me about 5 minutes from un-boxing to it being completely assembled; would have been faster, but some of the plastic tabs didn't snap in place smoothly and required a bit of extra oomph to make them snap in place. I took this as a good sign that the bin would not easily break apart. Once all snapped in, bin feels really sturdy. As I mentioned earlier, this bin is not going to be used for trash, but instead a delivery drop off box. Box is big enough to receive most Amazon delivery boxes, but small enough that I'm able to tuck it away behind a 'pillar' in the front porch so not to be obvious from the street. There be porch pirates out there matey. I went with a neutral color instead of the fancier design one, mainly because I wanted it to blend in with the background. What else, oh got a sign, and smart things sensor that triggers an alert when the bin is opened; for some reason, delivery folks don't like ringing our door bell when they drop stuff off. As for durability, it's only been a couple days, but I suspect it will last a while. Bin is not in direct sunlight, so the sun wont be directly baking the plastic. Bin is also under an overhang, so it should be exposed to the torrents of rain we get here in Central Florida. That not to say it wont get an sprayed on it, only that it wont be directly rained on. I'm not sure if I will anchor the bin down, it feels heavy enough that a light breeze wont tip it over, but we do get occasional strong winds from time to time. Overall, I'm happy with this purchase and have no problem recommending this as an affordable solution to a front porch delivery box.

A helpful purchase for rowhome residents.
The Suncast Trash Hideaway makes an attractive parcel delivery bin. Some drivers toss packages on the sidewalk or the front step - leaving items in open view and vulnerable to the weather. I purchased this trash can to keep our packages hidden and dry. The delivery was fast and the contents were intact. Assembly was simple - just be sure to fully snap in all the pieces for stability. I especially appreciate the legs that keep the base of the bin off of the ground. Two options for lifting the top make it convenient to insert and retrieve items of various weights and sizes. A customized sign was ordered and easily attached with screws. I used hex nuts on the inside to keep each screw tight. Two 8.8 lbs. weights are inside to steady the bin on windy days. It sits on a decorative rubber mat beside our front step. It's great to now have a weather-resistant hideaway for our deliveries. Hopefully, the delivery drivers will use the bin to keep urban stoop pirates from snatching the smaller packages left outside our screen door. I really like it!

Almost perfect, but assembly is a pain
I don't know why there are so few options for a reasonably attractive but large sized garbage can, particularly one that doesn't have an open top. Most of the ones that I'd consider seem to cost hundreds -- or even thousands -- of dollars, which is way more than I'm interested in paying for a garbage can. This one is pretty much just what I had been searching for, with a few caveats. First, the inside does have more nooks and crannies than seem to be optimal, so I followed the recommendation of other reviewers and made a cardboard liner to make it easier to get a full bag out of the can. So far this is working well...it may eventually need to be replaced, but that shouldn't be too hard to do. I also wish there was some kind of mechanism to let you put the top of the bag inside the can, but there is not -- it basically has to hang over the edge around the side, which detracts significantly from the appearance (and makes the top fit less well than it otherwise would). But, the main drawback turned out to be assembly. Argh. Most of the assembly was easy-peasy, with the pieces snapping together...until I got to putting on the hinged lid. Holy cow. The instructions were not that helpful...I could see what needed to be done, but it basically involved "bending" a fairly substantial and rigid plastic hinge mechanism to force the pieces together. I enlisted my husband's help, and he struggled mightily for ten minutes or so, finally prying it into place with a screwdriver. It was not a pretty process at all. After he finished, I noticed the big piece of paper in the packing materials, urging customers to call if they had assembly problems, prior to sending it back. Unless they were prepared to drive over and assemble it for us, I can't imagine how a phone call could have possibly helped, but clearly the manufacturer is aware of the problem.

Good looking and sturdy.
Good looking container with latching lid. I wanted to get the latching lid because we have a racoon that raids the garbage and makes a mess. Well, this didn't stop him. He figured out how to open it up the first night we put it out there. Not your fault, we just have smart racoons, LOL Otherwise, it's much nicer than your standard garbage receptacle.

excellent outdoor garbage can
I got this mainly for dog poop bag disposal, but also anything we find in the yard that needs tossing like old dog toys or trash that wind blows in. It was so easy to put together, everything snapped into place. You need to be able to lean into the pieces but don't need much strength. I love the design of the lid. The outermost completely opens on a hinge so you can easily add or remove garbage bags. The inner lid, inset into that, opens for waste disposal. I immediately felt I made a huge improvement in my day-to-day life, which is pretty shocking given this is just a garbage can. The only downside is you can't disassemble, the instructions indicate it will damage the parts, so if you ever have to move house it is either staying behind or coming as is. And if you ever need to dispose of it I imagine you will need to destroy it somehow.
